This traffic light is not optional when turning left, coming in/out of the community. Even if traffic is clear, you should wait for the light to turn green. This traffic light is intended to make that intersection safer for all. Please be patient when entering and exiting your community. ENTRANCE/EXIT GATE REMINDERS There have been many reported cases of tailgating when entering the community. Tailgating increases the risk of gate strikes. If any of the gates are damaged due to negligence on the driver's part, any costs involved with the replacement of the gate arm will be the responsibility of the driver (approximately $975, currently). When exiting the community, any vehicle close to the height of the overhang should use the right lane to exit the community even if turning left on Thompson Nursery Road. Not doing so puts your vehicle at risk of damage not to mention possible property damage that will be the responsibility of the driver. If unsure if the vehicle is close to the height of the overhang please err on the side of caution and use the right side to exit. REMINDER TO RESIDENTS AND GUESTS: To maintain a clean and welcoming environment for all residents, no flyers, business cards, advertisements, promotional materials, or similar items may be posted, displayed, or left at any Lake Ashton amenities. This includes clubhouses, pools, fitness centers, bulletin boards, tables, counters, and other common areas. Unauthorized materials will be removed to ensure shared spaces remain uncluttered and free from unapproved solicitation.

Brad Kirwan’s Lake Ashton Customers Discuss His Real Estate Work Everything Went Smoothly and Exceeded Expectations Brad answered all my questions promptly and professionally. The listing narrative was very important in the sale of my home. As a result, my home sold the day after it was listed which exceeded my expectations and shortened the time for closing and the time for moving to my new home. All this happened in a slow home market! Thank you, Brad for your excellent work. Larry Cunningham Verified by RateMyAgent Curious about your home’s current market value? See page 28 for information on a special Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony hosted by Lake Ashton Veterans Association (LAVA) and other ways to support our Military and Veterans. The Annual Summer Concert Series kicks off in May. There are a total of 4 scheduled events between the Clubhouse and HFC. Come to one, come to all! Tickets are $10 for each show. That is an unbeatable deal! Don’t miss a special Fourth of July this year! See page 29 for more information on how Lake Ashton is celebrating America's 250th Birthday, starting in June. Residents staying at Lake Ashton for the summer should plan to attend the Hurricane Preparation Program with staff from Polk County Fire Rescue providing resources for the severe weather season. This will be part of Monday Coffee June 1 at 9 a.m. in the Clubhouse Ballroom. The Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting for April was held on April 20, in the Clubhouse Ballroom. As May arrives, it is a time marked by renewal and growth throughout our community. The landscapes flourish with vibrant blooms, creating a picturesque environment for all to enjoy, although due to the freezing temperatures central Florida experienced this year there will more than likely be a delay in our seeing Florida’s true tropical vibe. During this month, some residents choose to head north to escape the rising temperatures. These seasonal departures have become a familiar routine, as neighbors seek cooler temperatures before returning home later in the year. If you schedule events at the HFC and plan to go on a hiatus, please notify us so we can adjust our activities calendar. Please mark your calendar for May 21, 2026, for the upcoming Lake Ashton II Community Development District LA 2 CDD Meeting. This important meeting will be at 9:00 AM in the Community Center. Attending the meeting provides an opportunity for community members to stay informed about district matters, participate in discussions, and connect with neighbors. Your involvement helps support the continued growth and well-being of Lake Ashton. There are always fun events at the HFC. You won’t want to miss Cinco de Mayo on Tuesday, May 5. Lake Ashton’s House Band “Perfect Pitch” will be performing after a Taco buffet with all the fixings, catered by the Eagles Nest. Come join your friends and neighbors in this colorful event. You will not want to miss a tribute band celebrating Billy Joel and Elton John on Friday, May 22. There will also be Legacy BBQ and Something Different Food Trucks providing an excellent selection of food in the HFC parking lot from 3:30 to 6:30 pm. You can also purchase tickets for both events at HFC’s Activities Desk. Be sure to look for emails and a special announcement in this month’s LA Times regarding the community-wide Lake Ashton’s 250th USA Anniversary Celebration. Special activities that make up this grand celebration will begin on June 26th at the Clubhouse, continuing throughout the last week of June and beginning of July, culminating on Saturday with a gala golf cart parade, a food truck rally and free Patriotic dance for Lake Ashton residents. We will also be recognizing and honoring Lake Ashton’s veterans and first responders throughout the month of July. We wish all travelers a safe journey home and look forward to welcoming your return. 10

UNAUTHORIZED USE OF AMENITY ACCESS CARDS Residents should not use their Amenity Access Card to let anyone in to any of the locked Amenity doors/ gates. Residents should only use their Amenity Access Card to open the pool gates and should not attempt to open the gate any other way. We need your help! Please ensure doors and pool gates are closed tightly after entering and exiting. If the doors and gates are not locking properly please contact staff. This system is only effective if used properly. An unlocked pool gate could result in the pool being shut down so please help ensure these gates are closed properly at all times. If you need an Amenity Access Card please come to the Clubhouse Office Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 10 am - 1 pm to have your picture taken and card issued. Please be sure to bring a photo ID. Appointments can be made for anyone not able to come in at those times. JOINT AMENITY POL ICY HIGHLIGHTS This is an excerpt from the Joint Amenity Facilities Policies. The full policy can be found on lakeashtoncdd.com and lakeashton2cdd.org. Questions can be directed to Christine Wells, LA (LW) CDD Community Director or Karen Van Kirk, LA (WH) CDD Community Director. PETS: No animals except for service animals assisting an individual with a disability are permitted at Amenities Facilities with the exception of Pet Parks, unless a special event allowing pets has been approved by the Amenity Manager. “Comfort”, “Therapy”, or “Emotional Support” animals do not meet the definition of a service animal and are not permitted. Pets must be always leashed and under control of an adult handler. Handlers are responsible for picking up after their pets and disposing of any waste in a designated pet waste receptacle. 12

SEASONAL RESIDENTS AND SUMMER TRAVELERS If you will be away for the summer, please stop by the Clubhouse Activities Office to sign up and pay for a seasonal subscription ($6 monthly; $10 monthly international). The newsletter is also published electronically and can be found on lakeashtoncdd.com as well as sent out via email blasts weekly. There is also a Summer Checklist in the Media Center to assist in making sure everything is taken care of before departure. OPEN BOCCE PLAY Wednesdays are designated as Open Play Day on the Bocce Courts at the Clubhouse. Residents are invited to stop by and play anytime between 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM. The courts are equipped with lights for evening play. The storage container closest to the pool is open and available for everyone to use. The second container is reserved for club and tournament play only. Please be mindful of the posted rules on the light poles and make sure your guests also follow them. One of the most common rule violations is lofting the bocce balls. Bocce balls should always be rolled, not thrown through the air. Lofting can damage the court surface and infrastructure, leading to unnecessary maintenance costs. OPEN BOWL ING Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays are open bowling days at the Clubhouse. No reservations are taken on these days. All lanes are open, first come, first serve from 6 am to 10 pm. Please be sure to wear bowling shoes or other prior approved footwear when bowling. Don't use powder of any kind as this creates a slipping hazard. Staff and Volunteers work very hard to maintain these lanes so please help by cleaning up and straightening furniture after use. Please reach out to staff or Security (after hours) if you experience any issues while using the lanes. Thank you to our amazing volunteers that donate so much time to taking care of this busy Amenity. You all are greatly appreciated! 13

RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT By Marianne Zak Lake Ashton's own Lynne Judd and her husband Larry bought their home on Green Drive in 2006. They became full time residents in 2012, retiring from Long Island, New York. Lynne and Larry married in 1977 and both earned PhDs. They worked as school psychologists,as well as having private practices in therapy. They happily raised four children and are expecting their sixth grandchild in June. Lynne, always active in her community, was in the PTA for 23 years and proudly received both the Honorary Life and the NYS Distinguished Service awards. She was both a deacon and elder in her Long Island Presbyterian Church. As a Girl Scout leader for 15 years, her daughters received their Gold Awards in Girl Scouting while both of her sons earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts. Lynne enjoys volunteering in Lake Ashton and other areas. She was a CAP member from 2012 until recently. For 5 years, she volunteered for "Give Kids the World" and volunteered for the Disney marathons for 8 years. She was a CERT member for 5 years and enjoyed volunteering for the Entertainment Series for 7 years. While learning pickleball, she and Larry started the Lake Ashton Pickleball Association (LAPA). They gave pickleball lessons and recruited new members. LA had only one pickleball court. She, Larry and the members of LAPA began fundraising to build more courts. She ran the LA Craft Fair for 5 years, did raffles, dinners, bake sales, sold hot dogs, and hosted tribute shows featuring Karen Carpenter and Neil Diamond acts. Her endeavors paid off, and more pickleball courts were built. Through her early vision, LAPA has now grown to six pickleball courts. Lynne is a devoted Disney fan and a collector of all things Disney. Her collection of festive Disney popcorn buckets is enormous. She has well over 60 buckets in her 15 collection. She even has popcorn buckets from Disney in Japan. Lynne, a Disney Vacation Club member, often enjoys DVC family vacations. Since 2023, Lynne has been the moderator of the LA "Magic Years Club". The club meets the 2nd Monday of each month at 7 pm in the HFC Craft Room. Club members plan Disney events and educate the members in all things Disney. With all Lynne does, "family is probably the most important thing in our lives". She arranges a large family trip every other year. Next summer she and Larry are renting a seven-bedroom B&B to visit Niagara Falls with their family. She enjoys Sunday trivia, Bok Tower events, Disney, cruising and the Lake Ashton Travel Club. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm makes her another reason why Lake Ashton is "Simply the Best" “Once Upon a Toy" was a success for Lake Ashton residents interested in nostalgic vintage Disney toys. Garrett Minster , last month’s resident spotlight, generously displayed his Disney toy collection prior to donating his entire collection to a museum in Orlando. Thank you to the residents who took the time to write notes of encouragement, sympathy, and gratitude to the family of Major Cody Khork.

With your generosity these deserving students have a chance to be successful in their adult life. We collected in total $10,835! This money will provide tablets, duffle bags with toiletries and domestic items for their summer. It also provided their graduation party on April 21 with a meal, door prizes and motivational speaker. But most of all, it will help provide scholarships. Residents also contributed 7 gift cards and 10 large bags of toiletries. Thanks to BOLLA, 140 hand sewn blankets were donated. Thank you for another great year of generosity! L.A. LOOKS Wildlife Corner Photo & Article By Barbara Ann Comer The grey catbird is an abundant "snow bird" in Florida including Lake Ashton. This bird is similar in size and shape to its close relative the Northern Mockingbird. However, unlike the Mockingbird, the Catbird is shy and not likely to sit at the highest point in your backyard drawing attention to itself. Appropriately named, its call sounds like a cat! They are dark gray with a black cap and a little russet under the tail which is frequently cocked. Invite them into your yard by planting an American Beauty Berry Bush. Multiple Catbirds will visit your yard especially at dawn and dusk to devour the magenta berries until none remain. LA (LW) HOA CORNER By Deanne Mayne The HOA Directors don’t often levy fines but occasionally the need arises. Please see the following from the CC&Rs: Section 9.4 Fines. (A) In addition to the means of enforcement provided elsewhere herein, the HOA may levy reasonable fines. A fine may not exceed $100 per violation against any member or any member’s tenant, guest, or invitee for the failure of the Living Unit Owner or its Occupant, licensee, or invitee to comply with any provision of the Declaration, the Bylaws, or reasonable rules of the HOA. A fine may be levied by the Board of Directors for each day of a continuing violation, with a single notice and opportunity for hearing, except that the fine may not exceed $1,000 in the aggregate unless otherwise provided in the Governing Documents. 9.4 B 1 A fine levied by the Board of Directors may not be imposed unless the Board of Directors first provides: (a) at least 14 days’ notice to the Living Unit Owner and, if applicable, to any Occupant, licensee, or invitee of the Owner sought to be fined, and (b) an opportunity for a hearing before a committee of at least three members appointed by the Board of Directors who are not officers, directors, or employees of the HOA, or the spouse, parent, child, brother, or sister of an officer, director, or employee of the HOA. (2) The role of the hearing committee is limited to determining whether to confirm or reject the fine levied by the Board of Directors. (a) If the hearing committee, by majority vote, which may be by secret ballot, does not approve a proposed fine, the proposed fine may not be imposed. (b) If the proposed fine levied by the Board of Directors is approved by the hearing committee, the fine payment is due 5 days after the notice of the approved fine is provided to the Living Unit Owner, and, if applicable, to any occupant, licensee, or invitee of the Living Unit Owner. (c) If not paid by the due date, the fine shall accrue interest at the highest rate allowed by law and may itself be the subject of a late payment fee. More detailed information is available in the CC&Rs Section 9.4 WATERING RESTRICTIONS The Southwest Florida Water Management District has implemented Phase III water shortage restrictions affecting Polk County. LAII (WH) HOA/ARC CORNER By Connie Strassberg The Pros and Cons of having a HOA Pros: There are many reasons why buyers chose to purchase in a community with an HOA. HOAs enforce standards for landscaping, home exteriors, and even things like fencing and vehicle storage. HOA rules can address noise complaints, cluttered yards, and disruptive behavior. This helps preserve curb appeal across the community. Cons: Some HOAs have high monthly fees; however, our HOA fee is only $60/year (or approximately $1.15/week). HOAs do come with a list of covenants and restrictions that can limit a home owner’s freedom. It is critical for a buyer to read the HOA Documents and know what they are getting themselves into before making an offer. Violation of HOA rules can result in warning letters, fines, liens, or even foreclosure for unpaid dues or assessments. The HOA has five flyer slots at the top of the flyer board at the Health and Fitness Center (HFC), which contain Email Contact Authorization forms and informational flyers about the HOA and ARC. To receive email notifications from the LAII HOA, residents must submit a completed Email Authorization Form to the management company, Stambaugh (863) 324-5100. Forms can be picked up from the flyer slots, completed, and either mailed to Stambaugh or placed in the white HOA mailbox at the HFC. Without authorization, privacy laws prevent email communication. The LAII HOA website (https://stambaugh.cincwebaxis.com) provides access to announcements, posted documents, the directory, calendar, and online dues payment. First-time users should click REGISTER in the upper-right corner to create an account. The Board of Directors will meet May 7 at 1 pm at the HFC (please check at the front desk for location). The agenda will be emailed to all who are signed up or can be found in our flyer spots after they have been finalized. They will also be posted on social media. The ARC (Architectural Review Committee) meetings are May 11 and 25 at 1 pm at the HFC. See p. 19 for contact information. 20 PROTECT LA’ S PONDS Summer is on its way, which means scorching days with lots of sunlight. Algae development occurs most frequently during the summer months, when rainfall and pond water temperatures rise. There are numerous ways residents may help keep Lake Ashton's Ponds attractive right now. • Avoid overfertilization and careless application. • Remove pet waste from your yard. • Ensure that landscape providers mow lawns with the chute pointing away from the pond bank. These actions will help to reduce nutrient runoff from summer rainfall. When the nutrients in the water get too high, the chance of an algae bloom increases. If an algae bloom occurs in a Lake Ashton CDD pond, the CDD contracts with an aquatics provider to treat the algae biweekly. Email Matt Fisher with any questions or concerns at mfisher@gmscfl.com. SAFETY NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH (NW) CORNER By Fay Wood, NW Chief Courtesy of Law Enforcement Springtime Crime Prevention Tips Spring is upon us and our crime prevention efforts focus on securing our homes as we spend more time outside and on the road. Your Neighborhood Watch Team recommends that you look over the following list and incorporate these into your daily activity. • Keep doors always locked. If you are working in the back yard, keep your front door and garage door closed and locked; and lock your back door when you are in the front yard. • Always lock your doors when you leave, even if you only plan to be gone for a few minutes. • During the spring weather, many people open windows or sliding glass doors while they are at home. Always remember to close and lock your windows and sliding doors when you go to bed or leave the house. • Install motion-activated lights in your front and back yards, so when someone approaches your home, the lights automatically come on, illuminating that person. • Put all ladders and other tools back into a secure storage area after you use them. Ladders and other tools can be used by criminals to access your home. • Be aware of home improvement scams. If you did not solicit the contractor or salesman who shows up at your door unannounced, do not do business with that person. If in doubt call local law enforcement. • If a utility representative comes to your house, request identification. True representatives will carry their identification, and they will gladly show it to you. • In warm weather months personal property thefts increase; there is a tendency to leave items, such as bicycles, gardening tools, 21 The Lake Ashton Neighborhood Watch “Meet the Police Chiefs Forum” took place at Monday Coffee on April 13. Chief Velasquez from the Lake Wales Police Department and Chief Monroe from the Winter Haven Police Department were there to give City updates and answer questions from residents. On April 24, Neighborhood Watch welcomed Polk County Sheriff, Grady Judd, to Lake Ashton again. He updated Residents on what the Sheriff's Office is working on and gave his perspectives on current issues. lawnmowers, weed eaters, and other yard tools lying around in the open. Make sure you lock up your personal property in your garage or yard shed; it doesn’t take long for someone to ride by and quickly take your property. An open garage door or yard shed can also be inviting. Keep them closed even when you’re at home. • Always remember to roll up your car windows, take any valuables out of your car, and lock your doors every time you exit your vehicle, even if your vehicle is parked in your driveway. • Implement a 9 pm routine where you make a visual check of the inside and outside of your property to make sure the aforementioned tips are adhered to at 9:00 pm or before you turn into bed. Lake Ashton is a great and safe place to live, and it is your Neighborhood Watch Team’s Mission to keep it that way. Enjoy Spring. SPECIAL NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH PRESENTATIONS

CERT UPDATE Successful Tornado Drill Strengthens Local Preparedness Last month, the Lake Ashton Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) conducted a full-scale tornado drill designed to sharpen our readiness and reinforce the safety procedures that protect our neighborhood during severe weather. We’re happy to report that the exercise went smoothly and demonstrated just how committed our volunteers are to keeping our community resilient. During the drill, team members practiced rapid response steps such as damage assessment, basic first aid, communication protocols, and coordinated search techniques. These exercises help ensure that, in the event of a real tornado, our CERT volunteers can act quickly and confidently to support first responders and assist residents. Preparedness isn’t just about training—it’s about building trust. Every drill strengthens our ability to work together and stay calm under pressure. We’re grateful to the residents who participated, asked questions, and showed interest in learning more about emergency readiness. If you’d like to get involved, learn safety skills, or simply understand how CERT operates, we always welcome new faces. Together, we can make our community stronger and better prepared for whatever comes our way. You can learn more by sitting in on one of our monthly meetings held on the third Tuesday of each month at the HFC Craft Room. Or visit our website at https://sites.google.com/view/ lake-ashton-cert/join-us. You can point your smart phone camera at the QR code and click on the link that pops up on your phone to go directly to that web site address. 22

All vehicles, including golf carts and bicycles, must obey all stop signs and the 20 mph speed limit throughout Lake Ashton. A person operating a golf cart on public roads or streets who is under 18 years must possess a valid learner’s permit or driver’s license. LIVING WITH ALLIGATORS Now that the weather has warmed up, coldblooded reptiles such as alligators can be more active. Alligators play a valuable role in the ecology of our state’s wetlands. Alligators are predators and help keep other aquatic animal populations in balance. Generally, alligators less than four feet in length are not large enough to be dangerous unless handled. However, if you encounter any alligator that you believe poses a threat to people, pets or property, call the Nuisance Alligator Hotline at 866FWCGATOR (866-392-4286). Nuisance alligators are euthanized, not relocated. Visit MyFWC.com/Gators for more information. Be aware of the possibility of alligators when you are in or near fresh or brackish water. Bites may occur when people do not pay close enough attention to their surroundings near water. • Alligators are most active between dusk and dawn. • Dogs and cats are similar in size to the natural prey of alligators. Don’t allow pets to swim, exercise or drink in or near waters that may contain alligators. Dogs often attract an alligator’s interest. • Leave alligators alone. State law prohibits killing, harassing or possessing alligators. Handling even small alligators can result in injury. • Never feed alligators – it’s dangerous and illegal. When fed, alligators can overcome their natural wariness and learn to associate people with food. When this happens, some of these alligators have to be removed and killed. 23 • Dispose of fish scraps in garbage cans at boat ramps and fish camps. Do not throw them into the water. Although you are not intentionally feeding alligators when you do this, the result can be the same. • Observe and photograph alligators only from a distance. WILDLIFE ALERT It’s that time of year again when sandhill crane colts are seen traveling with their parents. Florida is one of the few places in the world sandhill cranes can be found year-round. The non-migratory Florida sandhill cranes typically roam in pairs or small family groups. There are now fewer than 5,000 Florida sandhill cranes across the state and they are listed as a state-designated threatened species. Please drive safely throughout Lake Ashton and remember that it is illegal to feed these birds. This includes accidental feeding, such as when bird seed is spilled from bird feeders onto the ground below. LA COMMUNITY GARDEN By Brenda Lee The warm season is just around the corner for the Lake Ashton Community Garden, bringing a new chapter of growth, color, and connection. As we move into the hotter months, we’ll carry forward lessons learned this past year — continuing some practices while adapting others to help our garden thrive. Our pollinators will soon be at work among marigolds, zinnias, and salvia, creating a welcoming burst of color. Seasonal plantings and herbs offer both beauty and bounty as the garden continues to grow. To support garden health during the summer heat, monthly meetings will pause in June and July. Instead, May through July will focus on planting, watering, soil care, and maintenance. Our next meeting will be held May 20 at 1:30 pm in the HFC Craft Room. All are warmly welcome to attend. At Lake Ashton, the spirit of community is one of our greatest strengths. Within that community lies a dedicated group of neighbors driven by a singular mission: ensuring our veterans are never forgotten. The Lake Ashton Veterans Association (LAVA) Auxiliary is looking for new members, and we want you to be a part of our mission. Many people hesitate to join, thinking they need a personal military background or a spouse who served. This couldn't be further from the truth. While we honor the lineage of service, military affiliation is not required to join the Auxiliary. The only "requirement" we have is a heart for service. If you love our country and want to support the men and women who have worn the uniform—past, present, and future—you are exactly who we are looking for. The Auxiliary is the "boots on the ground" for veteran support in our community. We host multiple fundraisers throughout the year. These efforts aren't just for show; they translate into real, tangible support for various veteran organizations. Beyond the impact we make, joining the Auxiliary is a wonderful way to connect with your Lake Ashton neighbors. You’ll find a group of motivated, patriotic individuals who turn hard work into fun and meaningful results. Whether you have a few hours a month to give or want to take a lead role in an event, there is a place for your talents here. You aren’t just joining a club; you’re joining a cause. Meetings are every third Wednesday of the month in the Clubhouse Theater at 6:30 pm. The membership fee is $20 a year. Please join us and let’s work together to ensure that every veteran knows their service was valued and their sacrifice is remembered. LA BLACK HERITAGE CLUB By Dr. Pamela June 32 African Americans served with distinction in every American conflict, often while facing systemic discrimination. Their accomplishments advanced military integration and civil rights. Revolutionary War: 5,000-8,000 served in the Continental Army with hopes for inalienable rights. Civil War: Over 180,000 served in the United States Colored Troops, 10% of the Union Army. 1866: Buffalo Soldiers were essential in westward expansion and the Spanish-American War. WWI: 369th Infantry Regiment (Harlem Hellfighters) spent more time in continuous combat (191 days) than any other American unit. WWII: Tuskegee Airmen flew over 15,000 sorties earning over 150 Distinguished Flying Crosses. 761st Tank Battalion (Black Panthers) played a key role in the Battle of the Bulge. Desegregation (1948): President Truman signed Executive Order 9981, abolishing racial discrimination and consequently segregation in the U.S. Armed Forces. On Memorial Day, we reflect on their courage and honor all who gave their lives in U.S. military service.

SINGLES CLUB By Sil Wells The LA Singles Club gets together every Sunday at 2 BOLLA would like to thank everyone who recently supported our successful Pop-Up Sale in the Clubhouse parking lot. This was a smaller scale compared to the popular Trash to Treasure sale, but most successful. For the many fans of Trash to Treasure, don’t worry; it will return to the Clubhouse Ballroom in March of 2027. In support of BOLLA’s mission, 140 teen sized blankets were recently delivered to Polk County Schools to be distributed to Polk’s Homeless Graduating Seniors. Other recent deliveries included 60 blankets, 40 ponchos and 20 hats to two elementary schools. It has been a busy time! BOLLA continues to meet during the summer months to prepare blankets for the busy fall season at the schools. If anyone has an hour or two to donate to a most worthy cause, BOLLA would love to have some help on Mondays in the Clubhouse Craft Room at 1 pm. No sewing experience is necessary, and new members are always welcome. 33 pm in the Clubhouse Ballroom. If you live in Lake Ashton and are single and looking for good conversation and fun, join the group. There is a business meeting the first Sunday of the month. Following the business meeting and every Sunday, the group plays card games, usually Five Crowns. After cards at 4, some Singles go out dinner at a nearby restaurant. Besides the cards on Sunday, there have been field trips and another trip on April 26 to Bartow, for a Bartow Concert Band show. Once a month the Singles go out for lunch. The Singles Mingle is once a month on the 3rd Thursday, meeting at 4 pm in the Pavilion for snacks and drinks. All Lake Ashton singles - come join an interesting group. GOLF MESSAGE FROM THE PRO SHOP By Kevin Baker, General Manager As another successful golf season comes to a close, I would like to extend a sincere thank-you to all Lake Ashton club members and residents for your continued support of our golf courses. Your participation and enthusiasm play a major role in helping us maintain the quality playing conditions we all enjoy. With many of our seasonal members returning north for the summer months, we will soon begin our annual off-season maintenance program. Greens aerification is scheduled to begin in May, an important process that promotes healthy turf and strong putting surfaces for the coming season. In addition, starting in May, one of the courses will be closed each Thursday on a rotating basis to allow our maintenance team to prepare the turf for the summer growing season. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this essential work. I would also like to remind residents who enjoy riding through the golf course but are not playing that golf carts must remain on the cart paths at all times. These guidelines help protect course conditions and ensure everyone can safely enjoy the property. As we begin planning for next year’s membership season, I encourage any residents who are not currently members to stop by the golf office to learn more about opportunities available at the club. A strong membership helps us continue investing in course improvements and enhancements for everyone’s benefit. Finally, you will soon see announcements regarding adjusted summer hours at the Eagles Nest due to seasonal demand changes. As always, my door is open for your feedback. I look forward to seeing you around the club this summer. 42 BLUE MAN GROUP ANNUAL MURRAY ZACHARIA MEMBER/MEMBER TOURNAMENT By Bill Bothwell On Wednesday, April 8, The Blue Man Group hosted their annual Murray Zacharia Member/ Member Tournament. LAMGA By David Kubissa The March Member-Guest Tournament is a happy memory, but the LAMGA board already is looking ahead to the 2027 event. Toward that end, the board spent time in April studying a satisfaction survey from this year’s tournament and also honored major sponsors for their support of the event. The survey, answered by 82 percent of the LAMGA members who played, showed across-theboard ratings averaging 4.5 out of 5 on a satisfaction scale. Respondents also provided dozens of valuable comments, including many suggestions for what should go in the gift package for 2027. Much of the tournament’s success relied on sponsors whose support amounted to 36% of the tournament’s budget. In celebration of that support, LAMGA hosted a Platinum Sponsor day and luncheon on April 15 to highlight Platinum sponsors Bates Capital and Huston Cadillac Buick GMC as well as Gold-level sponsor Chris Bruser, reverse mortgage specialist for Mutual of Omaha. Those businesses were among the 74 sponsors whose support was recognized with signs and banners that lined the fairways and Eagle’s Nest during three-day March tournament. Look for those sponsors to be listed throughout the year in this monthly article. LAMGA’s board encourages the use of these services and businesses when Lake Ashton residents are shopping for goods and services. Board transition: At the board’s April meeting, Mark Kennedy was appointed by President Rolly Geyer to fill a board seat vacated by Vice President Larry Wilson, who has resigned after 10 years of dedicated service on the LAMGA board. Monthly sponsor salute: These businesses and services helped sponsor the 2026 Member-Guest: Advanced Screening Solutions; CBD Store, Winter Haven; Dental Arts of Winter Haven; Garage Experts of Lakeland; New Look Lawn Service; Ovation Bistro & Bar; Performance Golf Carts; Posh Salon & Day Spa; WCM Construction; and Weaver Loveless Law. Chris Bruser, reverse mortgage specialist, Mutual of Omaha, and Ryan Bates from the Bates Capital financial planning firm, were honored guests at the April 15 LAMGA game and luncheon. Jeremy Blalock, a Huston Cadillac sales associate, represented the auto dealership at the April 15 LAMGA event honoring its top sponsors. Huston provided raffle prizes and sponsored a $50,000 gift certificate toward a new vehicle for a hole-in-one on No. 2 East during the member guest tournament.
