LA COMMUNITY GARDEN By Brenda Lee The warm season is just around the corner for the Lake Ashton Community Garden, bringing a new chapter of growth, color, and connection. As we move into the hotter months, we’ll carry forward lessons learned this past year — continuing some practices while adapting others to help our garden thrive. Our pollinators will soon be at work among marigolds, zinnias, and salvia, creating a welcoming burst of color. Seasonal plantings and herbs offer both beauty and bounty as the garden continues to grow. To support garden health during the summer heat, monthly meetings will pause in June and July. Instead, May through July will focus on planting, watering, soil care, and maintenance. Our next meeting will be held May 20 at 1:30 pm in the HFC Craft Room. All are warmly welcome to attend. CAMERA CLUB By Larry Hillock Where has the time gone? Our first meeting of the season was in October and the May 11th meeting will be our last until fall. In February many of us participated in the Lake Ashton Fine Arts and Photography Show and several club members took home award ribbons. Guest speakers as well as club members educated us on interesting topics. Photo sharing and club activities enhanced the meetings. A special thank you to Shelley Brodka, Renee Schupp, Dennis Krupinski and Joanne Hillock for their assistance once again this season. The meeting May 11 will be held in the Cinema at 10:30 am. Bring along photos to share on a USB drive. Thank you for your support, and we’ll see you in the fall. 31 LA GETAWAYS By Judy Goldetsky Come travel with us! See QR code attached for details.
