CERT UPDATE Successful Tornado Drill Strengthens Local Preparedness Last month, the Lake Ashton Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) conducted a full-scale tornado drill designed to sharpen our readiness and reinforce the safety procedures that protect our neighborhood during severe weather. We’re happy to report that the exercise went smoothly and demonstrated just how committed our volunteers are to keeping our community resilient. During the drill, team members practiced rapid response steps such as damage assessment, basic first aid, communication protocols, and coordinated search techniques. These exercises help ensure that, in the event of a real tornado, our CERT volunteers can act quickly and confidently to support first responders and assist residents. Preparedness isn’t just about training—it’s about building trust. Every drill strengthens our ability to work together and stay calm under pressure. We’re grateful to the residents who participated, asked questions, and showed interest in learning more about emergency readiness. If you’d like to get involved, learn safety skills, or simply understand how CERT operates, we always welcome new faces. Together, we can make our community stronger and better prepared for whatever comes our way.
