CLUBS LA CERAMIC CHICS By Shari Gleber GARDEN CLUB By Pam Klawinski THANK YOU LA Community! Despite our hard freeze this year, we had a very successful Plant Sale because of all the generous donations, people stopping by and purchasing plants and garden items and volunteers to help out! We truly appreciate the kindness of our fellow neighbors in supporting our annual fundraiser! Our next meeting will be on Wednesday, May 13 in the Pavilion at 10 am for a short club update meeting and a hands-on “work party’” to cleanup and plant around the Pavilion. Bring your garden gloves and digging tools to help brighten up our Community as a thank you for supporting us! LAKE ASHTON FRIENDS OF MEALS ON WHEELS By Marcia Santino Thank you to BOLLA for its donation to the MOW Thrift Store of unsold items from the April popup sale. It is greatly appreciated! This sign is displayed next to the Thrift Store receiving door reminding all donors of the difference they are making in our community. Thrift Store sales represent more than 40% of MOW’s annual revenue. Thank you to all Lake Ashton residents that participate in our monthly “Third Thursday” donation drive. The Thrift Store desperately needs and gratefully accepts donations of small household items, décor and kitchen appliances, small furnishings such as side tables, lamps, and décor (including holiday), small exercise equipment, electronics and tools, games and toys, clothing, shoes and accessories. If you are redecorating, decluttering, moving, etc.… and have a large donation to make, you may call MOW for a pickup any time of the month. The next Third Thursday donation day in May 21. The LA Ceramic Chics love making and displaying special pieces for holidays throughout the year and they make wonderful gifts. Patriotic pieces are great for Memorial Day, July 4th and Veterans Day. Thinking about joining the LA Ceramic Chics? Please stop by any Wednesday from 8 am to 1 pm and see what we are all about! No experience necessary! Everything needed to get started is available along with lots of guidance and friendly crafters willing to help. After you spend a class or two with us to see if you like ceramics, membership is $20 annually to assist with the purchase of kiln supplies and maintenance. There is no charge to members for firing of projects, and NO LIMIT. Come out to meet our friendly members and create something beautiful! Contact the LA Ceramic Chics at 239-851-7899 (Joan DiBattista) or LACeramicChics@gmail.com. MAGIC YEARS CLUB By Lynne Judd The Magic Years Club, a group of Disney enthusiasts, was busy during April! Debbie and Pat Rapp graciously consented to run the Magic Years meeting for April (and will do so for May, too) and did a wonderful job! Thanks to them both. Also during April, Club members were able to attend a screening of The Emperor's New Groove at the Clubhouse Cinema, and to partake of a delicious luncheon at Chef Art Smith’s Homecomin’ in Disney Springs. If you love going to Walt Disney World, or are interested in learning more about what you can do there, please consider attending the next Magic Years meeting on Monday, May 11th, at 7 pm in the HFC Craft Room. All are welcome! 30
