(continued) Sil Wells distributed a list of attractions in Central Florida that she became aware of as a CERT ambassador. Carol Corley discussed lunch at Fire on August 16. Karen Nelson read a thank you letter from the director of Senior Orphans. The group is looking forward to continuing this tradition for Christmas. The Single’s Mingle will be held on September 21 in the Pavilion from 4 to 6 pm. Volunteers are needed to help set up and clean up. If you would like to take part in activities with other singles, attend the meeting on September 3. LAVA AUXILIARY By Chris Graves The LAVA Auxiliary meets the third Wednesday of the month at the Clubhouse near the stage. The next meeting will be September 20 at 6:30 pm. The LAVA Auxiliary is a group of LA Residents who support and honor the military through fundraisers, such as our Craft Fair (see below), as well as sending holiday cards to active military and other items as needed. Come check us out! The Craft Fair on Saturday, October 21 is fast approaching and we are seeking baked goods to be sold at the Craft Fair. Please refer to the flyer in the newsletter for additional information. At this time, all vendor tables have been sold and there is a waiting list which means, once again there will be a full house of creative, beautiful and tasty goods at the Craft Fair. We look forward to seeing you there. Have a safe and fun summer. God Bless America! LA ROCKERS By Connie Strassberg Roll out those lazy, hazy, crazy days of summer; those days of painting, and friendships, and cheer. Time sure flies when we're having a good time and now summer is almost done. We will continue to meet in the HFC Community Center on alternate Wednesdays from 2 to 4 pm. Various members will continue to share their skills and we are doing a lot of "paint what you enjoy painting”. The point is not to paint a master piece, but to have a good time. Newcomers are always welcome and we will lend you the supplies you will need for your first meeting. A lot of people say that they want to come but can't paint or draw. We proved that isn't necessary in one of our classes in August when we dropped different colored paint on rocks and created a pattern by blowing through a straw. After the rock dried, we wrote words on our unique backgrounds, and voila, pieces of art that your friends in Lake Ashton love to find. If you are here and want to enjoy a lovely afternoon with a great group of people, please join us on September 7 and 21. Join the Facebook group "LA Rockers" or contact MJ Richards (mjmrichards517@gmail.com) or Connie Strassberg (cbs1949@aol.com) to let us know you are coming. Last minute cancellations will be posted on the LA Rockers Facebook group page. Also, please continue sending prayers for Alice Mayer's recovery - your prayers are seriously working wonders.
