LAKE ASHTON PICKLEBALL ASSOCIATION (LAPA) By Dennis Santino The Lake Ashton Pickleball Association had a fun and successful summer this year. We had a potluck for members and their families over Memorial Day weekend and a pickleball mixer and hotdog social for America’s birthday. As the summer ends we start welcoming back our snowbird members and look forward to our next planed events. Our Newbie Clinic will resume in October and will be the first and second Monday of each month. There will be spots for 10 players on a first sign up bases. You MUST be able to attend BOTH sessions. Paddles will be supplied if you do not have one. October class dates will be Monday, October 2 and Monday, October 9. Sign up by emailing: coachdennis@myyahoo.com Coach’s Tips Rule #1: Do not miss your return of serve. Every time you miss a return of serve you give your opponent a point. Eleven misses equals game over. There is no reason to try and hit a winning shot on the return because your opponent cannot hit the ball until it bounces. You should hit a long return shot so you can get to the non-volley zone with your partner to control this area. Enjoy these monthly tips and remember to always have FUN. Check our bulletin board located in front of Court #2 for LAPA information on upcoming events and how to join this amazing group of people. See you on the courts.
