LAMGA By David Kubissa As we enter 2023 and a new LAMGA season, may your New Year’s resolution list include more birdies and fewer bogeys, and may it also include your enjoyment in the LAMGA lineup of weekly games and special events. A batch of those events kick off an action-packed first quarter in 2023 that includes the ever-popular Member-Guest Tournament March 9-11. Here is a list of the games planned for Wednesday’s LAMGA rounds: • January 4: Best 3 nets • January 11: One net on par 5s, two nets on par 4s, and three nets on par 3s • January 18: Pick your partner, two-man best ball gross and net, flighted • January 25: Best net A & D, Best net B & C Annual LAMGA meeting: At the December 7 annual meeting and luncheon, league president Rolly Geyer introduced returning board directors Larry Wilson, Jacques Fleischmann and Tim Wayt as well as new directors Dan Baun and David Kubissa. He also thanked outgoing board members Don Connors and Paul Fichtman for their years of service. Sponsor spotlight: Sponsors’ support is critical to the success of LAMGA events, especially the annual Member-Guest Tournament coming up in March. This month highlights sponsors whose backing has helped underwrite LAMGA’s program. They are: Chris Bruser, reverse mortgage specialist with Mutual of Omaha; Snow Bird Heating & Cooling; Art’s Golf Cars; Amerity Financial (Burris Warner); and Red Hoagland Hyundai. For a full sponsor list, check out the LAMGA website, Lake Ashton Living and Talk of Lake Ashton. Please keep these businesses top of mind when shopping for services and products in our community. If you didn’t make the luncheon, see Karen during morning announcements. She’s got a little sumpin’ for ya. We’re coming into our peak season, so here’s a quick reminder of golf etiquette: near the green keep your cart on the path or out of eyesight of the group behind you – that way when you walk off the green, they can continue to play and not wait for you to move your cart out of their way. Keep the group ahead of you in sight. As more of us are playing, you need to keep up with the pace of play. Play “ready golf” – do I need to say more?
