LA PICKLEBALL By Dennis Santino Lake Ashton Pickleball Association wants to thank everyone involved in the 250th Anniversary celebration of our country. We all moved to Lake Ashton because we wanted to live in a 55 plus active community and enjoy our later years. One of the best ways to do that is to become a member of LAPA. As the second largest club in the community, and with one of the lowest membership fees, there is no better way to stay active meet new friends and keep in shape. The fee is only $15 a year and registration forms can be found at the HFC. Our members enjoyed the members mixed tournament in July. The feedback from the format used 28 for this mixer was overwhelmingly positive. The players who made it to the finals were JP Thomas, Sue Morris, Lisa Reed and Dennis Santino. LAPA members also re p re s e n t e d o u r community at the Sun ’N Lake pickleball tournament. This format was skill level with no age restriction. Our team of Lisa Reed, Mark McDuff, Deb Knecht and John Savala won the bronze medal beating teams in their twenties. Sheryl Hemingway (not pictured) also won a bronze medal in her division. As the summer continues LAPA open play and clinics continue. Keep an eye out on the members blast for times and check out our Facebook page.
