CLUBS GARDEN CLUB By Pam Klawinski The Lake Ashton Garden Club’s Annual Plant Sale will be Wednesday, April 8 from 9 to 11:30 am in the Pavilion. Everyone in the community is welcome. This will be the Garden Club’s 5th annual fundraiser. There will be a variety of plants and garden related items. A “silent auction” will be held from 10 to 10:30. Any plants or garden related items to be donated to the sale from the community are most welcomed and can be dropped off at the Pavilion on Tuesday, April 7 from 4 to 6 pm. The Garden Club does not collect any dues so all the monies from the fundraiser go towards upkeep of current and planned projects, guest speakers and other materials needed for club meetings. Lake Ashton’s Garden Club appreciates your support! LAVA & LAVA AUXILIARY By Lori Thomas contribution will fund an additional 218 boxes of cookies for the Gift of Caring Program. Additionally, members purchased the troop’s remaining inventory of 77 boxes of cookies. A heartfelt thank you to the members of LAVA and LAVAA for their ongoing support of our United States military, both at home and abroad. Your generosity helps Girl Scouts make a meaningful impact in the lives of service members. LAKE ASHTON FRIENDS OF MEALS ON WHEELS By Marcia Santino This month we recognize and offer a special thank you to LA resident and friend of Meals on Wheels, Kristy McKibben. Each year Kristy and her team, in cooperation with Babe's Shoes and Apparel (Lakeland), organize a Springtime Luncheon and Fashion Show for the ladies of Lake Ashton. Net proceeds are donated to a deserving charity and this year Meals on Wheels of Polk County was selected as the recipient! This is another fine example of the wonderful, generous community we live in. Thanks to everyone striving to contribute in ways that make Lake Ashton and our greater communities of Winter Haven and Lake Wales so exceptional! Next Third Thursday Donation Drive is April 16. Pictured above L to R: New Volunteer Coordinator Trisha Price, MOW Executive Director Susan Eldridge, and Kristy McKibben On February 18, 2026, Girl Scout Troop 78110 attended the Lake Ashton Veterans Association (LAVA) meeting, where they presented certificates of appreciation to both LAVA and the Lake Ashton Veterans Association Auxiliary (LAVAA) for their support and sponsorship of the 2025 Gift of Caring cookie program. This program provides Girl Scouts with the opportunity to support the military community by sending cookies to service members serving overseas. Following the certificate presentations, LAVA, LAVAA, and individual members from both organizations generously donated $1,308 to Troop 78110 for 2026.
