LA COMMUNITY GARDEN By Brenda Lee The Lake Ashton Community Garden made it through the recent cold front with some damage to our crops — and many lessons for the future. All part of the wonderful world of gardening! They say a gardener’s heart is always full of hope, like the tiny mustard seed, and that certainly describes us. We have introduced Growing Garden Circles, small working groups that allow members to share their individual skills through planting, welcoming new gardeners, and developing creative ways to support the garden through fundraising. We are excited to expand these opportunities and involve more members in the continued growth of our garden community. We also held our second soapmaking class in March and plan to continue offering this fun activity for the entire Lake Ashton community. New guest speakers are also planned as the program continues to grow. The next meeting will be held April 14 at 1:30 pm. in the HFC Craft Room. Anyone interested in gardening is warmly welcome to attend. LA GETAWAYS By Judy Goldetsky Come travel with us! The March and April trips are sold out, so sign up soon for future trips. Our next meeting is April 8, 6 to 8 pm in the Clubhouse. Small World Tours and Collette Tours will be there. All Lake Ashton residents are welcome. Upcoming trips for 2026/27 include local and regional bus tours, trips to national parks, Italy, a lovely trip to France, and a 2026/27 New Year's Eve Princess cruise - also open to family and friends. Bus trips are no longer facilitated by the LACDD but this registered club. MAGIC YEARS CLUB By Lynne Judd The Magic Years Club is open to all who love Disney! We meet the second Monday of every month at 7 pm in the HFC Craft Room. The next meeting is on April 13. In March we enjoyed sharing experiences at Disney, including times that we have been pixiedusted (received a surprise special treat from a cast member or another guest), how lightning lane works and possible ways to reduce the cost of it, and apps that might help to find that elusive dining reservation at WDW. We also had a pop quiz on food consumption at WDW (did you know that approximately 9.5 million hamburgers are consumed there each year?) and our monthly trivia quiz, with some questions contributed by members. Our members are looking forward to a viewing of The Emperor's New Groove in the Clubhouse Cinema on Saturday, April 18 at 6:30 pm, and to having lunch at Chef Art Smith's Homecoming Restaurant in Disney Springs on April 27. Come join us for the April meeting. You'll have fun! LA CERAMIC CHICS By Shari Gleber With ceramics, you don’t have to be an “artist” to create beautiful pieces. Most ceramic pieces have raised areas that delineate where one color should be placed versus another, making it easy to decide how to paint a particular area. Members often consult one another and share ideas and techniques. Come join us and create something special!
