Rachael said her father always wanted one of his children to run Boston with him. Therefore, she announced her decision to run in the marathon on Dec. 24, 2018 – her father’s birthday. “He thought I was joking,” said Rachael. However, she was quite serious. “It makes it even more special,” she said. Hall has been running for Cops for Kids with Cancer since 2013. He said that during the past six years, he and other Everett police officers have raised $100,000 for the charity. This year, Hall said, he and Rachael have set a fundraising goal of $20,000. In terms of training, Hall said he spends five months preparing for the marathon. “I run six days a week,” he said, adding that he averages 40 miles per week, and “It’s the ability to go out by yourself and relieve stress.
