THE EVERETT ADVOCATE – Friday, March 15, 2019 Page 3 DiDomenico participates in Immigrants’ Day at the State House the most vulnerable children in our immigrant communities, have access to the health care they need.” SOUNDS OF EVERETT Hold your nose, folks! M ore of the same foul odor floundering in the Church Street fishwrap this week, it’s called intentional decepS tate Sen. Sal DiDomenico recently attended the Immigrants’ Day at the State House, which was organized by the Massachusetts Immigrant and Refugee Coalition (MIRA). Every year MIRA hosts Immigrants’ Day at the State House to hear from speakers about legislation, to speak about their experiences and to advocate for the coalition’s legislative priorities. During the day, Senator DiDomenico joined with State Representative Dave Rogers and Health Care For All (HCFA) in hosting a breakout session to promote a bill Senator DiDomenico presented in the legislature in January, An Act to ensure equitable health coverage for children (S.677). Thousands of low-income children in Massachusetts are not eligible for MassHealth and only have access to minimum coverage with strict limits on covered benefits, leaving them without all the care they need. Bill S.677 would expand MassHealth coverage to children who would be eligible for MassHealth except for their immigration status. Over 20,000 children would then have access to the care that they need. “We know that we need a comprehensive strategy to support our families and communities across Massachusetts while building the strong and resilient children the Commonwealth needs for its future success. To do this, we cannot leave certain children out simply because of their immigration status,” said DiDomenico, speaking about the importance of the bill. “Let’s work together to continue and strengthen our Commonwealth’s long-standing tradition of making sure all children in Massachusetts, including tion, trying as usual to make the mayor look like a villain and bully. At the City Council’s recent committee meeting, the mayor did a professional job of explaining to a whining Councillor Michael McLaughlin that his “know-it-all” public criticism of the Wellness Center – which has serviced over 10,000 residents since its inception at the old high school gymnasium where McLaughlin’s not even a member – is scurrilous. It seems McLaughlin has teamed up with the Church Street fishwrap and fake-news publisher who enjoys inventing fake issues. McLaughlin is Resnek’s boy. The two, along with the local money backers of the fishwrap, will stop at nothing to destroy the reputation of a mayor who has his heart and soul in his job. At Monday’s committee meeting, the mayor had too much class to stoop so low as to bully a “baby” Councillor McLaughlin, but the mayor had to defend the Wellness Center to stop McLaughlin’s nonsensical whining about a fabulous physical fitness facility that pays for itself and is enjoyed by thousands of members since its inception. After the meeting, McLaughlin mumbled about resigning from the City Council. You can bet he won’t. But, if he does resign he’ll do the City Council and voters a favor and take the scurrilous fake-news editor with him. Keep in mind that the real owners of the fishwrap have a vendetta against the mayor for opposing a 19-room rooming house on Ferry Street with one offstreet parking space. Resnek is a joke and very soon he will be exposed as the fraud he is. Stay tuned. The best is yet to come! Your career deserves an Encore. a Encore Boston Harbor is hiring.
