From Pastor Zeke Page 1 From the Desk of Pastor Zeke New Car Smell In my life, I have only ever known that smell one time. Years ago Andrea and I bought a brand spanking new Toyota car hoping to finally have a dependable vehicle. Needless-to-say that wonderful smell didn't last long. Well... it has been one full year since I was appointed to Wesley/Cavanaugh and that new pastor feeling is long in the dust by now. What a ride it has been! I went into this appointment knowing I didn't know anything about a two point charge. I was painfully aware of my known shortcomings and sure others would quickly be revealed. You have all shown so much grace to me as your pastor. Thank you for being patient with me and for loving me and my family. I have come to love each of you and truly enjoy living life alongside everyone. I am hopeful for the year to come. I truly believe that we are going to see God move in us and through us in the year to come. There is no doubt we will continue to engage our community and mission field as we act out our faith through mission. In addition, my prayer continues to be that others might experience what we enjoy as part of our church. I have no doubt there are many in need and searching for a place- a place where they can feel safe, supported, and loved. I believe our church offers that kind of place and that kind of people. In the next year, I hope we can further our efforts to invite and encourage others to experience our church. In this year to come, I will continue to seek God's guidance for me, as your pastor, and for us as a church. Likewise, I hope to deepen our relationships with one another and with God. Thank you for a great year and I can't wait to see what this next one will bring. Keep the Faith Strong, Zeke Wesley UMC Newsletter July 2019

Wesley UMW appreciates your help with this project. God bless each of you! The Community Rescue Mission’s Board is made up of members of the Fort Smith churches. Norma and Harley has represented Wesley for several years. The Mission is faith based, receives no federal, state, or municipal funds; it is funded solely by individual and cooperate donations. In addition to money & donated food they are always in need of personal items for their residents. Listed below are items that they need on a regular basis. Wesley is providing a drop off box in the church office for donated items during office hours 8:30am-12:00 noon Monday-Thursday. If you have items you want to give and you are unable to bring them to the church, you can call Harley and Norma and they will be glad to pick them up. Helping the Mission with their needs in providing for the homeless and needy is a blessing. Pastors from the churches represented on the board lead the worship service each Sunday. Our Pastor, Zeke leads the services in November. See the next page for list of needed items. Wesley UMC Newsletter July 2019

Cub Scouts Page 6 Pack 19 has had an exciting June. We started the month with our annual District Twilight camp. Five nights of activities which included guest speakers, archery, B.B. guns, building boats and racing them in the Raingutter Regatta, craft projects, skits, learning about fishing and many other fun adventures. June 11th the pack divided into teams and built rockets out of soda bottles and other materials. Due to inclement weather we have yet to launch our creations. On June 16th Pack 19 was well represented at Flag Day ceremonies at the Fort Smith National Historic Site and helped post the garrison flag. June 18th the Pack met at Home Depot for a fun craft night. On June 25th we held our annual egg drop contest at Wesley. Scouts each get an egg and construct a protective casing from various materials. The eggs are then dropped from the sidewalk to the bottom of the stairs. Some eggs survived, some were not so fortunate. As always, we invite any interested child to visit any meeting or event to check out Scouting for themselves.
