Wesley United Methodist Church January 2023 Newsletter What’s Inside: Note from Pastor UMM Events UWIF Calendar & More
Note from Pastor Jana The hustle and bustle of holidays has happened. Gift boxes, shipping boxes, shreds of gift wrap, holiday messes are around. The need to clean up clutter and get organized might just be a pressing thought. Or perhaps, like many the vow to start eating better in a new year is at the forefront of your mind. We all earnestly want new beginnings. We want that fresh start. We yearn for our life not to be filled with clutter. We make these resolutions and want to start out a new year well. How many of our resolutions are centered on Christ though? If we allowed ourselves the space and time to let God into our lives, we might just find all of those resolutions become easier. When we turn to our Savior and ask for courage; we just might be able to try new things. When we turn to our Creator and ask for love; we just might be able to love ourselves as we are. When we turn to our Sustainer and ask for guidance; we just might be able to accomplish more than we could ever dream. Go ahead and dream and vision for 2023. I know I will be for church and for many other things. However, I am making a commitment to deepen my faith in 2023. I hope you will join me on this journey. May you find space to be still with God. May 2023 be the year that you find peace. In Christ, Jana

Missions & Star Words Change Jars In January, we collected for Hope House. They have seen an increased need because of the colder weather. Remember to bring your change February 5th. We will collect for Clearinghouse. School will start back this month and they will need extra support. In the fall semester, we made roughly 700 bags that were distributed to Bell, Beard, Carnall, and Cavanaugh Elementary schools. Star Words On the first day of the new year, we had worship. At this service, we introduced Star Words. We celebrated Epiphany. We remember the star that led the magi to Jesus. At communion, people were invited to take a star word (A star shaped paper with a word on it.) We believe that word is something is guided by the Holy Spirit. We will use this word to pray and see how we are led to Jesus this year. If you did not receive a star word and would like to, let us know. We would be happy to mail you one or you can visit shorturl.at/doKPS
