PAGE 2 E-NEWS ON THE CUTTING EDGE VOLUME 6, NUMBER 2 It is hard to believe that it is already February. It is even harder to believe that the Lenten Season begins on February 14, Ash Wednesday. I want to invite you to join us at 6pm on Ash Wednesday as we observe the beginning of Lent with the imposition of Ashes. Lent has historically been a time of solemn reflection for the Church. It is a time for the individuals to reflect on their relationship with God and look for areas for growth. Often people will give something up for Lent such as caffeine, chocolate, meat, or even television. In a way, they are fasting. This year I want to encourage you to do more than just give up something for Lent. In addition, I encourage you to replace what you have given up with a time of prayer, study, or devotion. Use the extra time to grow in your relationship with God. You could even replace what you’ve given up with an outreach project that will share the love of Jesus with others. By adding time with God through study or service, it will enable you to grow and mature in your walk with the Lord. In Christ’s love, Daniel Wednesday, February 14th, 6:00 pm ABQ DS, James Large to Retire The Rev. James Large will be retiring from his position as the Albuquerque District Superintendent on June 30th. He has served the NM Conference for 42 years. We will celebrate James' extensive ministry and contribution to the work of the NM Conference more fully during the 2018 Annual Conference
