Greetings and Welcome to Elderly Instruments! We’ve been a family owned and operated music store since 1972. I started Elderly with the idea that we would run it as if we were welcoming folks into our living room to play some music and check out our new and used instruments, accessories, recordings, books and more. We still operate this way, so you should always feel welcome, whether in our store or on our web site. On the pages of this catalog you will see a sampling of what we offer, and also recognition of the Elderly Instruments employees that have been with us 20 years or more. They – and all of our employees – are a big part of our success. So are you. Visit with us at our web site at www.elderly.com or on Facebook or Twitter. If you’re nearby, drop into our showroom in Lansing, Michigan. We’ll be happy to see you and to help you get what you need to make your music. Whether you’ve been with us a long time or are new to us, we’re glad that you are a part of our musical family. Find us on: Stan Werbin, President swerbin@elderly.com or visit our website at elderly.com I know you carry it! Why isn’t it here? We simply can’t include everything we carry in our catalog; there is just not enough room. On our web site some items may be out of stock or available only by special order, but generally everything we carry is there – so please call us at 888-473-5810 (toll-free U.S. only or 517-372-7890 outside the U.S.) or email us at elderly@elderly.com for specifics. Prices and Availability We take pride in providing you with unusual and hard-to-find merchandise. But because of its specialized nature — much of it handmade in limited supply — the price and availability of items in this catalog are subject to change without notice. Our Limited Warranty On New Instruments We guarantee that all new instruments purchased from us will remain free from defects in material and workmanship for a limited period of no less than 90 days and up to one year from the date of purchase, depending on the brand name of the instrument. (Ask us for details on specific instruments). This is in addition to the manufacturers’ guarantees. Please note that inexpensive imported instruments may have minor flaws in the finish; this is normal and does not affect tone or playability, and will not be repaired under warranty. The following are not included in our guarantee: harmonicas, strings, banjo heads, tremolo readjustments, checked finishes (which are often the result of extreme temperature and/or humidity changes), and damage resulting from abuse, accident, or improper use. We strongly recommend use of a humidifier in your stringed instrument, particularly during the dry winter months. SHOP ADJUSTMENTS: Unlike most mail order shops, our stringed instruments are shop-adjusted for easy playability before we put them up for sale. Our personal rule of thumb for setting the action (string height above the fretboard) has been developed over many years. We are confident that nearly all players will be pleased with our standard setup. However, some players may want the action adjusted in a way that is outside these parameters. We are happy to provide this service, but in some instances there may be an additional charge (particularly if you want higher action than our standard).
