CA TEGOR Y HERE SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY What’s the Point of House Points? The house system at Tettenhall College is a means of providing outstanding pastoral care as well as rigorous academic monitoring across the whole School. It develops character and pride in the TC community, with the pupils fighting hard for their houses, whether that be Bantock, Haydon, Nicholson or Pearson. Through the variety of competitions across the academic year, pupils develop a passion for their house which goes right to the core of their schooling experience. There is something quite magical about our house system; pupils of all ages come together, allied in their desire for their house to be the best, for their house to win the various competitions and, of course, win enough points to achieve the overall honour of winning the House Cup. It is also no secret that the heads of house and all staff fight as hard for house glory as their fellow pupils do! This companionship and commonality is second to none and the advantages of this vertical collaboration, where the younger pupils look up to the older and where the older years care for and support the younger, are sincere. Speak to any OT and they will still reminisce past house glories and defeats with passion in their voice. When pupils have a vested interest in one another, a culture of compassion encompasses the whole School and becomes the standard. We are thus helping to develop pupils who are accepting and helpful, humble yet ambitious, and a little more prepared for the long road which lies ahead of them after TC.
