SCHOOL AND COMMUNITY Charities Group Making a Difference Bev Brazier reports: The Charities Group has made a substantial difference to many worthwhile causes this year, staging over 15 varied and creative events and raising in excess of £10,000. From coffee mornings to Sports for Schools, dog show to Santa run, funds were donated to charities including Macmillan, Compton Care, Well Food Bank, Oxfam, Sepsis Research, the Poppy Appeal and Children in Need – to name a few! The International Festival themed Macmillan Coffee morning raised £1,637 for Macmillan Cancer Support. Another example of impressive teamwork from the TC community, the Parents’ Association and the unflagging support from pupils and parents who baked all the cakes. Santa Run for Local Charity Perfect conditions blessed the annual Santa fun run around the School grounds. A record 150 runners including boarders and day pupils, staff and parents took part, raising £750 for the Well Food Bank in Wolverhampton. A mix of Santas, elves and other Christmas characters including many christmassy canines conquered the TC mile.
