MUSIC AND PERFORMING AR TS Christmas Concert Exuding confidence, passion and skill, over fifty pupils ranging from Year 2 to Year 13 took part in a beautiful Christmas concert showcasing musical talent from across the School. Classical soloists performed on violins, cellos, pianos, trumpets and flutes and demonstrated how the rigorous discipline of learning an instrument is alive and well. Individual singers gave rousing solos of pop tunes and music from the shows. Most pleasing of all was to see the number of bands and choirs now on offer at the College. It was impressive that after only one term at TC, Mr Howard was able to coordinate such an outstanding concert demonstrating the diversity and vitality of the music department offering. Any school’s mission is to nurture an individual’s talent so they reach their full potential. We certainly saw that in evidence at this concert. Andrew Wynne, Governor Music for Youth Regional Festival All 45 Choir members from Year 3 through to Year 12 represented the musical life of TC at the prestigious Music For Youth Regional Festival at the CBSO Centre, Birmingham. The Music Mentors at the CBSO, Birmingham said that our Choir sang with “lovely rich harmony, with a velvety opening to Adiemus, some delightfully blended voices and wonderfully crafted dynamic changes.” Magnificent End to an Exciting Musical Year! Packing Towers Theatre to the rafters, over 150 pupils and parents came to enjoy the Summer Music Showcase which celebrated musical talent from across the whole school, including the three Tettenhall College choirs, the jazz band, musical acts and soloists. A magnificent conclusion to an exciting year of music. Gareth Howard, Head of Music 37
