SENIOR SCHOOL Our TC Journey Year 13 pupils Hattie, McKenna and Lawrence reflect on their collective 47 years at Tettenhall College. I started my TC journey at the age of two. Looking back I never thought the day would come when I would be leaving the comforting hallways of Tettenhall College. For me, staying at one school from the age of 2 through to 18 was the best thing, not having the disruption of moving schools allowed me to really flourish into the outgoing and confident person that I am today. One of the things I am most thankful for is the family we have here at Tettenhall College; being a member of a smaller community really teaches you the values of being a team player and always looking out for those around you. Being in a comfortable environment with people that knew me allowed me to strive for the best results possible and it is thanks to my amazing teachers and peers that I feel ready to move onto the next part of my journey. Although saying goodbye to my second home of the past 16 years will be difficult, I am excited to see what the future holds next! Thank you TC for teaching me so much over the years, all I can say is ‘see you soon’, as I know I will never truly say goodbye to Tettenhall College! Hattie Tilley Throughout my time in the Drive School and Lower School, I would think ‘wow, I can’t wait to be in Sixth Form’. Now I stop and think ‘I wish I was in Year 6’, I took my days for granted and didn’t truly appreciate how lucky I was to stay at a school for my whole journey. Not having the disruption of movement allowed me to transition smoothly and really flourish as the years went on. You never come across a school that’s completely perfect and that’s OK, TC understands its flaws but works hard to overcome them. As an individual, I am allowed to be unique, the smaller numbers allow for every student to have their own identity and we are not put under a ridiculous amount of stress, our mental health is a priority and we are encouraged to do our own personal best. One of the things that TC has given me for which I am most thankful is the chance to develop relationships with international students from all over the world. Learning about different cultures and traditions makes people more accepting which is vital in the outside world. So, the time has come to say goodbye to TC, you’ve been my home, you’ve watched me grow and you’ve introduced me to people I will never forget, and I for one am not ready for this journey to be over. McKenna Maddox Being a second-generation student of TC, I have had a strong and rich history with the School that has become my home. The idea of being in one place for all your school life may seem odd to some. However, throughout my time I have felt safe, valued and above all, I have learnt. Through nursery to Year 13, I have come across many people, some have been with me throughout it all and I have seen many people come and go. But no matter how long somebody comes to TC for, they always settle into the familiar surroundings quickly and with ease, allowing all to reach their full potential. Time is an important commodity to us all. It is important to take, give and receive it. The teachers here are willing to give 110% to you, the student. This is such an important element of TC. It will be a sad time when I move on from TC, I have learnt and grown over the years through everybody around me and will look back on the place with fond memories.
