SENIOR SCHOOL Maths Mania! Before I had been to Rubik’s Cube Club, I had never dreamt of solving a Rubik’s cube. Countless times I had attempted to teach myself but failed. On the first day of Rubik’s Cube Club I was given a booklet with extremely clear steps on how to solve this wondrous puzzle. I took this booklet home, along with a cube, and practiced day in, day out until I finally solved it. The following week, I thought Rubik’s Cube Club would be boring. I had mastered the cube, what now? As I entered the classroom, I was introduced to other new different types of cubes, 4 by 4 by 4 and 5 by 5 by 5. Some of them weren’t even cubes but triangles! Rubik’s Cube Club has improved my capability of solving difficult puzzles and has taught me something I will treasure my whole life; how to solve a Rubik’s cube.” Ali Asghar, Year 10 UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge Esa Asghar achieved gold, best in Year 11 and best in school and qualified for the Intermediate Olympiad.
