City of Lake Charles opens Mallard Golf Club Mallard Golf Club, a Scottish links-inspired golf course designed by Jeff Blume and owned by the City of Lake Charles (La.) recently opened. The city owned and operated Mallard Cove Golf Course near the Chennault Airport near the Southeast Part of Lake Charles since 1976. The new course is located is located about seven miles south at 3470 Morganfield Drive, which is just south of East McNeese Street. In the month of October, the facility will be having a soft opening with tee times available Friday-Sunday. In November, the course will transition to being open six days per week. The permanent clubhouse is expected to be finished by the middle of 2023, but the facility will still be able to hold tournaments before that time. Web: www.mallardgolfclub.com The Hacker’s Amateur Tour releases its 2022 schedule The Hacker's Amateur Tour, which is based on the Florida Panhandle and has players from five southern states, announced its 2022 schedule.The slate includes events in three states (Mississippi,Alabama and Florida) and starts in December of this year with an event at TimberCreek Golf Club (Spanish Fort,Ala.) on Dec. 12-13. The second event and first in 2022 is at Scenic Hills Country Club (Pensacola, Fla.) on Jan. 29-30. On Feb. 19-20, the tour will be at Eglin Air Force Base Golf Club in Niceville, Fla.The first round will be on The Falcon Course and the second round will be on The Eagle Course. The next stop will be March 12-13 at Lost Key Golf Club in Pensacola, Fla. On April 2-3, the tour will be at Glen Lakes Golf Club (Foley,Ala.) for The Hacker's MASTERS. The tour will be at Rock Creek Golf Club (Daphne,Ala.) on May 14-15. The Hacker's CLASSIC will be June 11-12 at Shell Landing Golf Club in Gautier, Miss. Magnolia Grove (Mobile, Ala.) will play host to the tour on July 9-10 with players playing the Falls Course in the first round and the Crossings Course in the second round. On Aug. 6-7, the tour will be at Cypress Bend at Craft Farms in Gulf Shores. On Sept. 10-11, the Peninsula Golf Club (Gulf Shores) will play host to The Hacker's TRADITION.
