Burns wins Sanderson Farms Championship Sam Burns shot a final-round 67 to win the Sanderson Farms Championship on Oct. 3. The victory at The Country Club of Jackson (Miss.) was the second on the PGA Tour for Burns. The former LSU standout opened with a round of 68 and then posted a 66 in the second round and a 65 in the third round before edging Nick Watney and Cameron Young by one stroke for the victory. For his efforts, Burns (Shreveport, La.) won $1.26 million.Watney [65-66-72-65] and Young [67-65-67-68] each earned $623,000 for their second-place finish. Burns, 25, also won the Valspar Championship this spring. He lost in a playoff in Memphis in August and almost got into a playoff in February at Riviera.This victory moved him into the World Ranking’s Top 20 for the first time ever.
