Struthers, Thomas win GSPGA tourney Brent Struthers and Blake Thomas won the Gulf States PGA PING/Sterling Cut Glass Pro-Scratch Championship at Audubon Park Golf Club in New Orleans on Nov. 4. The team format involved one professional and one amateur playing six holes of a scramble, six holes of four-ball and six holes of alternate-shot format. Struthers is an amateur and Thomas is a PGA Professional at The University Club in Baton Rouge. The winning duo fired a bogey-free round of 53, which was 9-under-par.They shot a 25 on the front nine and a 28 on the second nine with six birdies on the front and three on the back.The event drew 34 players (17 teams).Team Lee (David and Sam) were second at 55 along with the team of Devin Thomas and John Dupont. Coming in fourth (56) was the duo of Clay Weems and Lana Hodge, who posted a 23 on the front nine with six birdies and an eagle. Closest-to-the-hole winners were pro Allan Martel and amateur Richard Voorhies.
