The course, designed by Pete Dye with help of PGA Tour players Steve Elkington and New Orleans’ own Kelly Gibson, had its first public tee times since re-opening on Nov. 1. The $2 million project focused primarily on re-grassing the entire course.The improvements also included work on bunkers, increasing the size of two greens and adding some mounds to improve the line of sight for tournament spectators. “This has been a long time in the making,” said TPC Louisiana General Manager Luke Farabaugh. “We now have Tif-Eagle greens and Celebration the improvements. “Brandon Reese and the entire TPC Louisiana agronomy staff did an incredible job getting the renovation done on time and under budget,” said Taylor Capouch, who serves at Executive Director of the Kelly Gibson Foundation.“The fairways and greens are immaculate, and the new CONTINUED ON PAGE 16 YANCY’S WORLD-RRECORD WATCH Yancy Methvien (Brookhaven, Miss.) is going for the World Record of golf rounds played in a calendar year, which is currently 878 rounds. As of the end of the day on Wednesday, Nov. 6, Methvien has now played 776 rounds this year and he’s walked all of them. Methvien’s goal is 911 rounds and one the main reasons he is going for the record is to bring awareness to the Veterans Golf Association and more specific the VGA Mississippi.
