While You're Here AFTERSCHOOL SNACKS In partnership with Super Saturdays The Sandusky Library is partnering with the Children’s Hunger Alliance to provide FREE afterschool snacks to all children up to age 18. Snacks will be distributed Monday thru Friday from 4:00-4:45 p.m. in the Frohman Room. Each snack contains items from each of the 5 MyPlate food groups. MARCH Sunshine Week March 16 - 22 In celebration of Sunshine Week and National Freedom of Information Day our Storytimes for the week will offer a sunny theme and we will also have sunshine activities available for you to do in the Youth Service's Department daily. Sunshine Week promotes open government and access to public information and is designed to include National Freedom of Information Day (March 16). National Freedom of Information Day celebrates the rights that are promised to all Americans under the First Amendment. APRIL Money Smart Week April 14 - 21 The Youth Services Department will be celebrating Money Smart Week. Drop in and participate in fun activities related to money! Minute to Win it for Kids! Saturday, January 18, 10:00 a.m. Think you can defeat all the challenges, with only one short and pressure filled minute on the clock? Come test your skills with friends at the library! Children are invited to compete in a series of challenges, and each challenge is only 60 seconds long. You have one minute to win it! Take Your Child to the Library Day! Saturday, February 1, All Day Stop by the Youth Services Department to participate in fun activities in celebration of Take Your Child to the Library Day! Tweens & Teens Tween Tuesday Tuesdays at 3:00 p.m. Drop in anytime between 3 and 4 to participate in a fun activity designed for 8-12 year olds each Tuesday afternoon. What’s the Word? Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. January 9, February 13, March 13, April 10 Do you love Boggle, Scrabble, or Bananagrams? Each month we will play a word related game and test your vocabulary skills! Chess & Checkers Club Thursdays at 4:00 p.m. January 16, February 20, March 20, April 17 Drop in to play chess and checkers with other kids and teens. Don't know how to play? No worries, we will teach you! Teen Dungeons & Dragons Club Saturdays at 1:00 p.m. February 8, March 15, April 12 We are looking for adventurers to join our new club! Players can design their own characters and set off on fantastical adventures while playing this classic tabletop role-playing game! Take a peek in our Dramatic Play area! Plans for this winter include a Skating Rink & Hot Chocolate Shop, a Pizza Shop, a Flower Shop, and a Library. Thinking Money for Kids Gameday Monday, April 14, at 3:00 p.m. The American Library Association (ALA) and the FINRA Investor Education Foundation has awarded Sandusky Library a Thinking Money for Kids grant. Join us as we explore topics related to money while playing board games. Jack & Annie Club Saturdays at 10:00 a.m. February 8: Dinosaurs March 15: Medieval Times April 12: Ancient Egypt Get ready to be swept away with the Magic Treehouse! We will explore the first chapter of each book out loud and complete activities based on the book's main topic.
