Behind the Brand OCTAVIA'S PUP SHOP narel le and courtney stewart Based in Durack in the Northern Territory, Octavia’s Pup Shop is a business with a truly inspirational purpose. Narelle Stewart explains, “We created our business as part of our then 14-yearold daughter, Courtney's, home-schooling journey but also to prepare her for her future employment. Courtney has Autism and learns skills through repetition and enjoyment. She finds it hard to interact with others but since starting this business, she has grown in leaps and bounds in this area and many others.” Courtney was the creator of one of the business’ previous best-selling items, Snuffle Mats, and now creates her own line of pup-inspired earrings. “We are so proud of her. We have very supportive fellow stallholders at the local markets we attend throughout the Darwin and Palmerston communities who are a great encouragement of our business but more importantly of Courtney.” The business was started a year ago and named after the family’s spoodle, Octavia. “She is our inspiration and is affectionately known as O.” Additionally, Octavia’s Pup Shop supports other local seamstresses by purchasing and upcycling their offcuts which are turned into one-of-a-kind, stunning reversible pet bandanas. “Our dream is to one day have our products stocked at all pet-friendly cafes around Australia.” “We started our business to support Courtney in whatever way we can to further her learning experience and creating a great future for her.
