HEARTFELT HUGS By MJ Richards We are a group here in Lake Ashton who independently crochet and knit baby blankets. All blankets are donated. Some go to the Food Pantry in downtown Winter Haven for mothers in need. Others go to Winter Haven Women’s Hospital for newborns and premature babies who have passed. Mothers find comfort in taking home the blanket their baby was wrapped in as a fond remembrance. The need is great. We crochet or knit baby blankets in our homes using baby colors such as white, pink, blue and pastels. Google can help with ideas for stitches and sizes. Once finished, blankets can be placed in a bag and dropped off on the front door chair at 1171 Sawgrass Drive. They will be delivered by my husband and me on a weekly basis. LA ROCKERS By MJ Richards Have you seen the new Interactive Rock Garden outside of the ballroom at the Reflection Garden? If you haven’t, take a little tour and move the rocks around to send messages to others who pass by! LA Rockers are back in full swing preparing for our fundraiser at the Craft Show at the Clubhouse in October, creating kindness rocks to hide in LA, and making welcome rocks for new neighbors. We are also creating “Good Neighbor rocks” for the social coming up in September. We meet twice a month on the first and third Wednesdays of the month where the third Wednesday is an orientation will be provided for those who want to give us a try. We will supply everything you need for your first time.
