When we talk too much and listen too little, we communicate to others that we think our ideas are much more important than theirs. Put a mental stopwatch on your conversation and keep track of how much you talk and how much you listen. When people talk with you do they feel their viewpoints and ideas have value? This week I listened to a woman who told me she loved the Tiger Swallowtail butterfly, another woman who was happy she completed a special project this week, then a man who told me a little bit of his story and how he was determined to better himself and he did. Today be someone who focuses completely on what another person is saying and while engaging with their ideas in a thoughtful, comprehensive way. .-Alex Fuertes, Maintenance Supervisor
