LACDD NEWS By Christine Wells, LA (LW) CDD Community Director DE DI C AT I O N At the August Board of Supervisors meeting Supervisors voted unanimously to dedicate the Fitness Center to longtime resident and community advocate, Jack Davenport. A plaque will soon be installed inside the Fitness Center for all to remember one of Jack's favorite places at Lake Ashton. Whenever you use the recumbent stepper think of Jack. That was HIS machine as many fitness goers refer to it. We miss his smiling face in the Fitness Center already! Believe it or not, the first day of Fall is September 22. Even though Lake Ashton residents will not experience the traditional cooler temperatures and leaves changing colors, this does mark a time when friends traveling and visiting family and friends in other parts of the country return home. Welcome your friends and neighbors back to the community by coming out to a Sunday Funday event at Charm City with drink specials, going to an event at the Clubhouse or HFC, or maybe play a round of golf and enjoy a lunch at the Eagle's Nest afterwards. Whatever you choose to do, Lake Ashton is full of opportunities for socializing with friends and neighbors to nurture current relationships and create new friendships. Residents are enjoying the Summer Locals Concert Series and are already asking what we are going to do next year. Well...next year will feature some tribute bands and some other surprises! Staff is gearing up for Entertainment Series renewals that will start on October 1. Please be patient with staff as we work to accomplish this task while issuing credentials. It will definitely be a balancing act. Don't forget to purchase your NYE tickets for the party at the Clubhouse featuring 99 in the Shade. Dance the year away while making memories at the photo booths (which are always a hit) and eating some great finger foods. The party starts at 8 pm and Charm City will be doing dinner before the party so don't miss out. At the August 19 Board of Supervisors meeting Supervisors met and approved to move forward with a few projects. A quote was approved to make repairs to the pipe and pavement near 4081 Dunmore Drive, in addition to two other pavement repairs in this area. Residents will be informed via email blast of when this work will take place. Additionally Supervisors approved a quote to install seamless gutters at the Clubhouse and approved staff to work with the painting vendor chosen at the July meeting to paint the Clubhouse an alternative color. These two projects will be coordinated so the old gutters are removed prior to painting and the new gutters are installed after the Clubhouse is painted. A wrap up report was sent via email blast on August 23 with a summary of actions taken at this meeting. Any resident that did not receive this wrap up report can request a copy by sending an email to cwells@lakeashtoncdd.com. The next Board of Supervisors meeting is Monday, September 23 at 9 am in the Clubhouse Ballroom. Please visit lakeashtoncdd.com for agenda packets, meeting minutes and other District documents, or to sign up for blast emails.
