LA HANDS 4 HOPE SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE UPDATE By Debby Landgrebe Thank you, thank you, for your generosity. Thanks to numerous donations, the many volunteers who helped pack supplies, and those who delivered supplies, the Hands 4 Hope School Supply Drive a great success. Approximately 450 backpacks filled with various school supplies were delivered to Inwood Elementary School. Truly, these children will be blessed. Upon seeing all the filled bags, staff members were brought to tears. Thank you for helping LA Hands 4 Hope help others! RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT Lake Ashton Resident, David Fix, is training to thru hike the nearly 2,200 mile Appalachian Trail with a start date of February 12, 2025. The Appalachian Trail covers 14 states from Georgia to Maine, and will take approximately six months to complete. Pictured below, David, hiking solo, just completed his first shakedown hike covering 47 miles over four days. This photo, from the top of Springer Mountain is at the southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail in Georgia. Carrying a 40 pound backpack, this hike was to test out his equipment and see where changes can be made for his thru hike.
