UPCOMING MONDAY COFFEE SPEAKERS October 13: State Attorney Brian Haas Brian Haas is the State Attorney for the Tenth Judicial Circuit of Florida, including Polk, Highlands 6 and Hardee Counties. As State Attorney, he is responsible for all criminal prosecutions in the Tenth Judicial Circuit. Last year, the State Attorney’s Office handled more than 11,000 felony cases and 20,000 misdemeanor and criminal traffic cases. Mr. Haas was raised in Polk County and graduated from Bartow High School. In 1997, he graduated from Flagler College and in 2000, graduated from the University of Florida College of Law. Brian and his wife are very active in their church and community. November 10: Resident Author Cary Davis WELCOME TO LA! New residents of Lake Ashton can sign up at either Activities Office and online for a New Resident Orientation held October 10 in the Health and Fitness Center (HFC) Community Center at 2 pm. This is an opportunity to meet community leaders and other new residents, and get information about the community. New residents can also stop by the Clubhouse or HFC during operating hours to receive a welcome packet, sign up for communitywide emails, and more. Stop by the Clubhouse Activities Office to put in an application if you would be interested in volunteering for the Activities Advisory Group, Event Set-up, Event Breakdown, or Other Event Support at the Clubhouse. This is a great opportunity to meet new people and get to know more about what goes on behind the scenes. Send a picture of any fish caught in ponds or lakes in Lake Ashton, along with your name, the lake or pond that it was caught in, as well as the type of fish caught and any measurements (length and/ or weight) to valerie@lakeashtoncdd.com to be featured in the next edition of the LA Times. Don’t forget to include your smiling face! As a reminder, there is a catch and release policy for any District owned ponds in Lake Ashton.
