AWARENESS AT THE HFC The HFC's Annual Breast Cancer Walk, Fundraiser and Brunch will be held October 3 beginning at 9 am, with a short walk route and a longer walk route. The HFC will award medals to the first three finishers in each category during a special breakfast for walk participants, along with two guest speakers from Winter Haven Women's Hospital. Register for the walk at the HFC. All proceeds will be given to the Breast Cancer Foundation Of Central FL. This is the same organization that benefits from the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer Golf Tournament held at Lake Ashton on November 8. The money stays in Central FL assisting those currently in treatment with rent, utilities, gas for treatment travel, etc. To make donations, drop off checks payable to Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida throughout the month. Residents who attend exercise classes in the month of October are encouraged to wear pink clothing for a chance to win a gift certificate. The HFC also features a Wall of Honor where names of LA residents or family members who have been affected by breast cancer can be displayed behind the HFC Activities Desk during the month of October. Simply let HFC personnel know of name(s) of those people they would like to honor. PINK RIBBON DANCE & GOLF TOURNAMENT By Lydia Fichtman This year’s golf tournament is November 6 and 8, sponsored by Lake Ashton Golf Management. All funds raised will be donated to the Breast Cancer Foundation of Central Florida. The mission of this 501(c)(3) is to ease financial worries of local Central Florida breast cancer patients and their families. While a patient is in active treatment the foundation’s financial assistance program helps patients with non-medical financial expenses such as rent, mortgage payments, utility bills, car repairs, car payments, gas for treatment travel, and/or daycare costs. In addition, there is a children’s fund that provides financial compensation for each child in the household upon initial application approval and during the holidays. The pictured golfer is located in the Clubhouse. Attached to a golf ball is a QR Code. If you would like to make a donation, register a non-golf club member for the tournament, or become a Sponsor, scan the QR Code above or on the golfer statue. Think about making a donation for a loved one. Each of us knows someone who has had this disease. A special kick-off party will be held at 4 pm on November 6 at the Eagles Nest and on the West 18th Hole. There will be a putting contest and a closest to the string contest for a small fee. Prizes will be available for both, and munchies. November 8 is the Pink Ribbon Golf Tournament. In 2024, Lake Ashton donated just over $59,000 to the Foundation through sponsors, donations, silent auctions and registrations. Lake Ashton would like to meet or exceed that goal this year. Sign up at the Pro Shop as a foursome, a pair or an individual. The Member fee is $45 and the Non-Member fee is $75 which includes a continental breakfast, a round of golf, lunch (again provided by Glory Days) and a donation to BCFCF. Registration closes on November 1. Sponsorships are available from $50$1000. Interested sponsors can download a form from the Lake Ashton Living website. Volunteers are also needed for the golf tournament. If you are not golfing and want to help, contact Lydia at 215- 290-9375 or Rita Lee at 484-431-4243. Your help will be essential to the success of the event. Thank you. Lake Ashton never fails to rise to a challenge! GET YOUR PINK ON and let’s light up Lake Ashton PINK! 30
