RESIDENT SPOTLIGHT By Marianne Zak Marsha Bishop of Pebble Beach Blvd. hails from Maine and New Brunswick, Canada. Marsha and her husband David moved to Lake Ashton in 2019 and declared, "no more snow"! Having raised three children, Christopher, Benjamin and Emily, the Bishops will celebrate forty years of marriage next June. Since October is "Breast Cancer Awareness Month", she is commemorating the 10th and 12th anniversaries of her two sisters' recovery from breast cancer! She said, "there is hope with medicine so your life can be longer". Believing in hope helped Marsha October 25, 2023. While on a transatlantic cruise, her daughter Emily was frantically trying to reach her parents with horrific news. When they finally connected, Emily blurted out, "Mom, Benjamin has been shot but he is alive". Having one more day before docking in Lisbon, Marcia relied on CNN for the latest developments. Not only was her son shot five times, it was the largest mass murder in Maine's history. Arriving stateside, friends drove them to the hospital, where Benjamin was intubated. Marsha discovered that a mentally deranged man had shot and killed seven people in a bowling alley. Then he drove to a recreation center where Benjamin was participating in a corn hole tournament. There the shooter killed eleven and injured thirteen others within 78 seconds. Marsha's son lost complete use of his arm and hand but is back to work while still recovering. 14 Marsha and David are looking forward to Benjamin's wedding on October 25th, the second anniversary of the shootings. Marsha said, "they are going to take the worst day of their life and make it the best day of their life"! After her son's wedding, although hesitant to go into large crowds and being very aware of her surroundings, Marsha and David are going on a European cruise. Marsha, a woman of faith, enjoys Lake Ashton dances, travel, movies, cards and Stella, their golden doodle. Marsha's spirit radiates hope and forgiveness!
