CLUBS ADOPT-AROAD CLEANUP A Lake Ashton quarterly litter clean-up event is scheduled for Thompson Nursery Road from Hwy. 27 to County Road 653 on Thursday, October 26. Please sign-up online or at the Clubhouse Activities Office so adequate supplies are available. Meet in the Clubhouse Ballroom beginning at 8:30 am to pick up trash bags, gloves, safety vests and trash grabbers. Volunteers will receive a free tshirt and Bok Tower ticket each calendar year. Come have fun and get some exercise while keeping the community beautiful! Contact Linda Sandel if you have any questions at 863-368-0699 or sandelly7@gmail.com. LAVA AUXILIARY By Chris Graves The October Meeting of the LAVA Auxiliary will be held on October 18 at 6:30 pm at the Clubhouse near the stage. The LAVA Auxiliary is a group of residents (men and women) who work together as a group to create opportunities to reach out to the military and veterans; to let them know that they are appreciated and not forgotten. The next event is the Craft Fair on October 21. Volunteers are needed to bake goodies for our Bake Sale. See the flyer in this Newsletter for more information. There are more than 48 vendors signed up for the Craft Fair. They will be set up in the Clubhouse Lobby, Ballroom, and, NEW this year, the Cinema! Lots of crafts to see! Lunch will be available for purchase as well as baked goods. Check out the kitchen area for these items. Thank you to our volunteers and thanks to Charm City for sponsoring the lunch. God Bless America and our Military! THE LA PURPLE STARS The LA Purple Stars, your Relay for Life Team, will be sponsoring a booth selling handcrafted items at the upcoming Craft Fair October 21 in the Clubhouse. 100% of the proceeds of all donated items sold will go to the American Cancer Society. Once again Linda Ross has so graciously donated a quilt for our raffle item. Tickets for the raffle are $1 each or 12 for $10. They will be on sale at Monday Morning Coffee and also at the Clubhouse 34 Activities Office. We are still looking for homemade items to sell at our booth. Please contact Rita Baxter at 863-604-19028 to drop off your donation. Thank you, Lake Ashton, for supporting The American Cancer Society! CAMERA CLUB By Larry Hillock It's that time of year when the temperatures begin to cool down and outdoor activates begin to heat up. The Camera Club will hold its first meeting of the fall season October 9 at 10:30 am in the Clubhouse Cinema. Members are encouraged to not only bring along a few photos on a flash drive to share but also ideas for the new season. Residents who are not currently a club member but share an enjoyment of photography are welcome to join us. We’re looking forward to a great season. GARDEN CLUB By Lynn Davis The Lake Ashton Garden Club’s September meeting welcomed Mary Jane di Lorenzo from First Lakeland African Violet Society. She educated participants on the different types, care, propagation and numerous handy time saving planting tips. The club’s next meeting is Wednesday, October 11 at 10 am in the Pavilion. Pam Klawinski will present about Fall Blooms. Members are encouraged to bring questions and expertise. The Garden Club meets the second Wednesday of each month. LA BELLES By Joan DiBattista The witches, ghosts and goblins will be joining us for lunch at the Sizzling Grill on October 25 at 1 pm. Costumes are optional but there will be prizes for the best three. Sign up at the Clubhouse. If you have any questions, call Faye Cooke (863-969-8700), Bernice Williams (863-875-8180) or Joan DiBattista (239-851-7899).
