PulsePoint - You can receive 24/7 notifications (when selected in the app) of fires, traffic SMARTPHONE SAFETY APPS Almost everyone these days has a “smart phone”. In addition to placing and receiving phone calls with them, they can take photos and use applications (called “apps”) to perform some very helpful tasks for you. Here are a few of the publicly available, free apps your Lake Ashton CERT use to track emergency services and severe weather. Apple iPhone users can download them in the Apple App Store. Android users can access them in Google Play. Apple and Android phones come with weather apps capable of sending you alerts of severe weather events in your current area (if you set them up to do so in each app). The logo shown at the left is for iPhone weather. To access weather on an Android phone open Google, enter “weather” in the search box and select “weather” from the results below your search line. collisions, utility emergencies, and natural disasters. CAP By Mike Weissberg Since all residents are part of Neighborhood Watch you are watching things around you. Citizens Assisted Patrol (CAP) does this by patrolling the streets and looking for things that do not belong in the community. Our patrol presence with lights flashing is our deterrent to help keep our streets safe. CAP is always looking for more volunteers to be the eyes, ears and presence for the Sheriff’s Department.
