Fall is in full swing in Lake Ashton with pumpkins and brightly colored leaves displayed throughout the Clubhouse and activity calendars bulging with fun! In this edition of the LA Times (and every issue for that matter) it is apparent why Haven Magazine in Winter Haven named Lake Ashton as the “Best Retirement Community” in their Best of Haven Home 2022 issue. Supervisors and Staff work hard to ensure there is a robust offering of classes and activities for residents to enjoy and amenities are kept in tip top shape. With that being said there are resident feedback forms located outside of the Community Director's Office and Facility Repair Forms located in each amenity room in the Clubhouse. Please complete a form if you notice something in need of repair and submit feedback concerning your experiences at the Clubhouse. Staff is here for you...to make your events go off without a hitch, to help advertise and promote your group activities, and to ensure you live your best retirement life. With the return of summer travelers traffic counts will begin to increase in Lake Ashton. With that being said please be sure to take your time when maneuvering throughout the community. Be sure to wear reflective clothing when walking or biking during hours when light is limited and always walk facing traffic. Please see page 20 for more information on how to keep our streets and residents safe. Please remember storm season runs until November 30. All residents should be prepared for severe weather. Helpful storm preparation resources can be found at either Activities Desk. Be mindful of lightning monitors throughout the community and seek shelter when needed. Supervisors met on September 19 to discuss the Request for Proposal (RFP) for Restaurant services at the Lake Ashton Clubhouse. The RFP has been sent to several interested parties and industry professionals. In addition, a not to exceed amount of $2,000 was approved to advertise the RFP in local trade journals. The Restaurant Lease Agreement will be discussed at a later date. Maintenance agreements for pool maintenance, aquatic management, security, and landscape maintenance were presented and all were renewed subject to adding language requiring pricing increases be submitted 90 days prior to renewal date. A cost savings analysis was presented and staff will continue to work on additional areas for savings. Please refer to the Community Director report for detailed information. Options to refurbish the landscape along Lake Ashton Blvd. were presented and additional options will be presented at the October Board of Supervisors meeting. A wrap up report of additional actions was sent out via email on September 25. All residents are encouraged to attend. The meetings can be attended in person or via Zoom. 8
