Enjoy fun, excitement and plenty of laughs with Noah from America’s Got Talent from 7 to 8 pm. Then, from 8 to 9 pm, get ready for a featured performance by the Blues Brothers! Cheryl Winchester is personally hosting this special fundraiser to benefit RAHAB HOUSE, an organization that helps girls and young women rescued from human trafficking rebuild their lives and find a fresh start. Cheryl previously worked on cruise ships, where she had the opportunity to see this talented Blues Brothers duo perform and knew they would be a wonderful addition to a Lake Ashton evening. Please note that this is a resident-organized fundraiser and is not sponsored by Lake Ashton. All donations collected will go directly to Rahab House. Tickets are $20 each and will be available for purchase on the following dates and times: Mondays: November 16 through December 14, immediately following Monday Coffee Tuesdays: November 17 through December 15, from 2 to 4 pm at HFC Wednesdays: Beginning November 18 through December 16, from 12:30 to 2 pm at the Clubhouse Cash or checks only. Let’s make this Christmas celebration one that truly makes a difference! 28 The LA Purple Stars will host their annual Chili CookOff on Friday, January 22, 2027, from 4 to 6 pm in the Clubhouse Ballroom. This is the group’s first fundraiser of the year benefiting the American Cancer Society, and everyone is invited to join the fun! Up to 20 residents can sign up to make chili for tasting, and bakers are welcome to contribute baked goods. Tasting tickets go on sale Monday, November 2, online and at Monday Coffee. Tickets are $1 each, with 12 for $12, 20 for $20, and so on. Checks should be made payable to LA Purple Stars. Tickets will not be sold at the door, so be sure to purchase yours in advance! New this year is the Hot Cash Money Board! The LA Purple Stars will purchase $100 worth of scratch-off tickets and sell raffle tickets for $2 each. The winner will be announced at the Chili Cook-Off, with the chance to win thousands of dollars! Attendees can also purchase cornbread, baked goods and water for $1 each. Judges will select the first- and second-place chilis, and residents can vote for the People’s Choice Award. Remember, you’ll need a tasting ticket for each chili you sample, so stock up and help support this worthy cause!
