MIND&BODY UNDERSTANDING A STROKE & WHAT TO LOOK FOR Have you ever wondered about the warning signs of a stroke or the importance of early evaluations? PLANTING FOR POLLINATORS Join UF/IFAS Extension Polk County experts on November 16 at 1 pm in the Clubhouse Ballroom for a class with tips on planting your garden to support pollinators! They will share plant suggestions and tips for increasing habitat in your yard. A minimum of 25 participants required. Sign up at the Clubhouse Information Wall. CLASSICAL MUSIC APPRECIATION / MUS IC HISTORY SERIES There are still five seats open for the classical music history program Mondays at 3 pm in the Clubhouse Cinema. November and December sessions will cover the great works of the Baroque era (1600 - 1750) by 16 composers with special attention on Antonio Vivaldi, Domenico Scarlatti, George Frideric Handel and Johann Sebastian Bach. Lake Ashton resident Ken Hoffman, who has nine years experience teaching music history to seniors at the Continuing Education Department at the University of North Florida, explains the music and the historical events that influenced the composers of the era. Learn about many renowned musicians, past and present, while viewing films of them playing the music. Class discussion is encouraged. Sign up at the Clubhouse Information Wal l. CAREGIVERS SUPPORT An all-encompassing Caregiver Support Group facilitated by the Alzheimer's Association will be held on November 15 at 11 am in the Clubhouse Ballroom. This group is for Caregivers and Care partners of people living with Alzheimer's, Dementia, Parkinson's, ALS, Cancer, and Diabetes. People who are living with the disease are welcome to attend with their care partner. This support group is conducted by trained facilitators and is a safe place for everyone to develop a support system. Sign up at the Clubhouse Information Wall. WHAT’S THE BUZZ ABOUT BEES? Join friends and neighbors on November 18 at 6 pm in the Clubhouse Ballroom for a fun yet educational presentation on honey bees from our friends at Happy Hives. Learn how honey is collected and processed for use in different products, the art of beekeeping, and how mighty of an impact small honey bees have on our environment. Don't forget to BYOB.
