LA REPUBLICANS By Brenda Bush-Sayre The Lake Ashton Republican Club will not hold a meeting in November due to the Thanksgiving holiday. We will host a Christmas Party on December 11th at the HFC. The party will begin with cocktails at 4:30 PM. A cash bar and heavy hors d’oeuvres will be available. All party guests are asked to bring an unwrapped toy for a girl or boy for the purpose of local donation in Polk County. RSVP to Brenda BushSayre, bbs1954@icloud.com, (813)313-9911. LA ROCKERS By Connie Strassberg Fall is here! Snowbirds are returning to the beautiful Lake Ashton community and almost all of the new houses are occupied with people new to this area. Looking to get together, make friends, and learn something different? Come to the HFC Community Centers on alternate Wednesdays from 2 to 4 pm to meet a great group of people and learn to paint rocks. Join in the fun and share in the camaraderie - and it’s free! Alice Mayer, leader and founder, and other talented artists in our group will be teaching a new rock painting and decorating techniques. There is no need for first timers to buy supplies — everything you need for your first meeting will be lent to you. You too can paint rocks to welcome new neighbors, participate in bi-monthly group challenges, and hide your creations throughout Lake Ashton to bring smiles to the faces of friends and neighbors. October focused on Halloween and November will be Thanksgiving, and will also start painting rocks to donate to a local nursing home for the Christmas/ Hanukkah holidays. Please join the upcoming meetings on November 3 and 17 by joining the group LA Rockers on Facebook or contacting MJ Richards or Alice Mayer to let them know you are coming. LAVA AUXILIARY By Chris Graves Next meeting: November 17 at 6:30 pm in the Clubhouse Ballroom (by the stage). The Lake Ashton Veterans Association (LAVA) Auxiliary supports veterans through various fundraisers, such as the recent Craft Fair just held in October. The LAVA Auxiliary meetings are a wonderful time to meet and get to know your neighbors and support veterans. (continued on p. 38)
