Best of all, it does not cost anything to try since we will lend you the supplies you will need for your first meeting. Please join at the next meetings May 4 and 18. Join the Facebook group "LA Rockers" or contact either MJ Richards (mjmrichards517@gmail.com) or Alice Mayer (aamayer1@gmail.com) to let them know you are coming. If a meeting is canceled at the last minute, it will be posted on the LA Rockers Facebook page. If in doubt, check before you come. LAVA AUXILIARY By Chris Graves The next meeting of the LAVA Auxiliary is May 18 at 6:30 pm in the Ballroom, close to the stage. LAVA Auxiliary is open to all those who love this country and want to support its veterans. The entire month of May is Military Appreciation Month. See page 23 for more information. LAVA Auxiliary is selling RED, WHITE and BLUE bows for you to put on your mailboxes and/or golf carts. The bows are $5 each. So let’s get out and deck the streets and let all who live in Lake Ashton or come as a visitor or vendor, know that you LOVE your country and military. ALL mailboxes on Gu l l ane Dr i ve a re proud l y displaying the Red, White and Blue bows! Gullane residents Debby Landgrebe and Chris Graves feel that "Gullane Drive is THE LANE!" and at the time of submission, is the first street to be lined with bows. Other streets — you are challenged to do the same! The LAVA Auxiliary is hosting this fundraiser to not only show patriotism but also to raise money to benefit veterans. SAVE THE DATE: The 2022 Craft Show is right around the corner. It is scheduled for October 22 and crafters are needed! Reserve a table for $50 to sell your handcrafted items. Call Joan at 239851-7899. God Bless Our Military! MAGIC YEARS CLUB By Annie Lutz At the most recent meeting the group came to a consensus to suspend the Magic Years Group here at Lake Ashton. Disney has made it almost impossible to schedule any type of group activities, and because there has been a very significant decline in meeting attendance, the members felt this was the right decision at this time. If, in the future, members want to resume activities, and someone is willing to take on the leadership position, then the group can resume. LA REPUBLICANS By Brenda Bush-Sayre The Lake Ashton Republican Club will meet on May 25 at the Clubhouse. Social time will start at 3:30 pm and the meeting will begin at 4. There will be a school board forum and five candidates will participate in a Q&A session. All Lake Ashton residents are welcome to join. Contact is Brenda Bush-Sayre, bbs1954@icloud.com, 813-313-9911. LA SWIM CLUB By Sandy White Have you seen the outstanding beautification project the LA Garden Club has started in the indoor pool area? It truly has made a difference in the appearance. Can’t wait to see the finished project! Donations are still needed. If you want to help, please give your donation to a Garden Club or Swim Club member in a sealed envelope. The most active swimmer on the LASC's 100-mile Challenge Swim is almost in Ft. Lauderdale (on paper). He plans to continue on to Key West. Just before those goals, he had swum to Daytona Beach & back. WOW! What a great inspiration. The challenge record sheet is on the club's bulletin board in the locker room hallway, as is other club info. All lap swimmers are welcome and encouraged to participate. (continued on p. 34)
