COMMUNITY SOCIAL POTLUCKS The best way to meet new friends is over a good meal! Join friends and neighbors at the monthly potlucks held at the Clubhouse and HFC. Clubhouse: April 16, June 11, August 13, October 8 December 10 HFC: March 21, May 16, July 18, September 19 November 21 COLORS OF HOPE SPRING FASHION SHOW By Kristy McKibben Join us for an exciting “Colors of Hope” Fashion Show on Wednesday, March 13 in the Clubhouse Ballroom. Tickets are $25, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Good Shepherd Hospice, a cause near and dear to many of us. A tasty luncheon will be provided. Beautiful and wearable Spring fashions will be showcased by your modeling friends and provided by Babe’s Shoes & Apparel of Lakeland. Babe’s will be set up to sell before and after the show. Doors open at 11 AM, lunch at 11:30 AM, Fashion Show 12:15-1:15 PM. Shopping will continue until 2:30 PM. Tickets are $25 and on sale at the Clubhouse. Checks only, please, made out to Kristy McKibben. We have a stamp that will identify your check as “HOSPICE FASHION SHOW.” TOUR DE LA Bicycle riders (two wheel, trikes, recumbents, e-bikes and anything that moves by pedaling) are invited to join the Lake Ashton Pedalers on March 24 at noon at 28 the HFC for a group fun ride. There will be ten mile and twenty-mile routes through the neighborhoods of Lake Ashton. Each route ends up back at the HFC. Limited to 50 riders - complete a registration form (available at the Clubhouse or HFC Activities Desks) by March 19. Call Don at 423-284-7866 or email Shelley at shelleyknee@gmail.com with any questions. BOOK TALK DATE CHANGED New date: April 5 at 11 am in the Clubhouse Card Room. Have a conversation with Jeffrey Wilkinson PhD, one of the authors of the new book “The Wall Between”. This will be a 90-minute session, hearing from the author, facilitated by another Lake Ashton resident, Dr. Gary Goldetsky as well as being able to ask questions. There is no fee for the session. Participants will need to have read the book. If you don’t already have the book, they are available for $20 (email Jeff at drjeffreywilkinson@gmail.com). The session will be limited to 20 people. 2024 POLK SENIOR GAMES The 31st Annual Polk Senior Games are scheduled to run through March 9 at various sites throughout the county. More information can be found online at polkseniorgames.org. If you compete in the Games, and/or win a medal, send a picture and your information to Valerie, valerie@lakeshtoncdd.com, for recognition in the LA Times! VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION SPRING FLING We love our Lake Ashton Volunteers! YOU make Lake Ashton the wonderful place that it is! We have planned a wonderful invitation-only event on April 19 to show our heartfelt appreciation. Volunteers will receive an invitation in mid-March in the mail which will need to be exchanged for a ticket to the event by April 15. Thank you for ALL that you do for Lake Ashton!
