(continued from page 33) It was agreed to rename the monthly wine tasting to the Monthly Mingle. If you would like to take part in activities with other singles, attend the meeting on March 6. The picture above is of the group who had lunch at the Jacaranda Hotel. LA ROCKERS By Connie Strassberg Unfortunately, due to Omicron, several in person meetings of LA Rockers had to be canceled. Despite this, the dedicated LA Rockers have still been painting up a storm. Welcome Rocks are always needed and are such a good way to make new residents feel right at home. Kindness Rocks are being hidden all around Lake Ashton — the group’s mission is to spread happiness and joy throughout the Lake Ashton community. It is believed that a message (painted on a rock) received at just the right moment can change someone's entire day, outlook, and life. In addition, there have been several online challenges and Easter Rocks are being collected to be distributed to the residents and staff of Waters Edge Nursing in Winter Haven. Hopefully in person meetings will be able to take place throughout March. If so, come to the HFC Community Center on alternate Wednesdays from 2 to 4 pm to meet a great group of people and learn to paint rocks. You don't have to be a talented painter — just pick up a small rock, paint a background, write a message, and hide it for someone else to find. It doesn't cost anything to try this since there is no need for first timers to make a huge investment for supplies - you can borrow what you need. Please join the group at the upcoming meetings that will be held on March 9 and 23. To attend, join the Facebook group "LA Rockers" or contact either MJ Richards (mjmrichards517@gmail.com) or Alice Mayer (aamayer1@gmail.com) to let them know you are coming. Last minute meeting cancellations are posted on the LA Rockers Facebook page, so if in doubt, check before you come. LAVA AUXILIARY By Chris Graves Please note that the new date for the March meeting is March 9 at 6:30 pm in the Clubhouse Ballroom near the stage. At the January meeting a committee was created to research various charities that support our veterans and will report their findings at the March meeting. The charities to be discussed are: Hearts and Homes for Veterans, Canines for Patriots, Soldiers Freedom Outdoors and Liberty Manor for Veterans, LLC. Each of these charities support veterans in unique ways. A second committee was created to Brainstorm ideas for various fundraising events. They too will give a report on their findings. Hope to see you there! SAVE THE DATE: The 2022 Craft Show is right around the corner. It is scheduled for Saturday, October 22. Crafters are needed! You can reserve a table for $50 to display your handcrafted items. Call Joan at 239-851-7899. God Bless The Military! 34
