GOLF LALGA By Beverly Hines June is the gateway to summer and happy times golfing with our “stay at home” friends in our little slice of paradise. Wishing our snowbird friends a happy summer at their “home away from home” as well. The change of LALGA board officers began June 1 and will go through May 31, 2026. President – Margie Dersham, VP -Deborah Giannattasio, Secretary – Sandra Lancaster, and Treasurer – Kathy Reed. Thank you for your willingness to provide leadership for the league.The LALGA summer tournament will be held on July 7th & 8th. Sign up is in the Pro Shop only (no online sign up). Deadline for sign up is June 24th. Teams will be randomly paired. The theme is Viva Las Vegas so put on your best casino party attire. The game will be a be a special shamble/scramble. Lunch will be on the second day in the Eagles Nest. As the summer months heat up, LALGA members will have the option of playing nine holes on League Days June through September. By doing so they will not be paying the $3 entry fee and will not be participating in the game or payout but certainly can join us during the hot summer months. Next month we will announce our Red Hoagland Challenge winners - those who have won the most prize money during the year (June 2024- May 2025). THE BLUE MAN MURRAY ZACHARIA 2025 MEMBER- MEMBER GOLF TOURNAMENT On April 16, 2025, the Blue Man Group hosted the annual Murray Zacharia Member-Member Tournament. Murray's son Seth and his golfing partner, Greg Harvath joined in. The one day competition was intense, which resulted in several ties resolved by USGA - Florida formula. Winners were Clive Greeff and Kevin Cravens - LOW GROSS and Clarence Bristow and John Pitman - LOW NET. Each team was memorialized on the Zacharia plaque which is located in the LA Pro Shop. After the competition, we were honored to be joined by Linda Zacharia, Murray's wife, who assisted in presentation to the winners. Thanks to PGA professional Ian Peterson as well as Sandra and Jackie of the Eagles Nest who arranged lunch. 41
