LAKE ASHTON FRIENDS OF MEALS ON WHEELS By Marcia Santino Happy New Year, Lake Ashton Residents! We offer a Special Acknowledgement for your substantial support of our 2025 Fundraiser. We raised $26,810. Thanks to our generous donors and sponsors, 100% of the proceeds went directly to MOWPolk. Susan Eldridge (right) MOWPolk Executive Director and Marcia Santino pictured. As we begin 2026 with hope and anticipation please remember that Meals on Wheels of Polk County assists our greater community throughout the year. No one knows when he might find himself in a position of need; long term or just for a short duration of recovery. MOWPolk does not discriminate, they are here for anyone in need. A sincere thank you to everyone that supports this essential resource. Your generosity is gratefully accepted and greatly appreciated! Without federal funding MOWPolk is always in need of monetary and volunteer assistance. Please consider volunteering in the kitchen, thrift store or as a meal delivery person. As little as 3 hours a month can make a difference in so many lives. For information on meal services, monetary donations or volunteer opportunities, please call 863-299-1616. To join the LAFOMOW Club please email lafomow@gmail.com. Reminder: Next “Third Thursday Second Chance” donation date is January 15. WORLD KINDNESS DAY By Jill Groves On November 13, to celebrate World Kindness Day with Lake Ashton, Anne & Steve Franc of the Pebbles and Pines Social Club, delivered dessert goodies to the Polk County Sheriff’s Southeast Substation on 12 Thompson Nursery Rd. The LAPP Social Committee would like to thank Anne & Steve and all those neighbors who donated baked goods. As you can see from the picture, they were delighted. LA HANDS 4 HOPE By Sophia Brennan LA Hands 4 Hope hosted their annual Charity Christmas Dinner for Polk County families. The Grinch made an appearance, and as usual, stole someone’s bag of goodies that made all the children wild with excitement. Santa and Jingles the Elf showed up and presented gifts to all the children. That was the hit of the party. We were amazed by the outpouring of love from a few Lake Ashton residents who donated money and food so we could make this evening so special. Thank you to everyone involved for making great memories for these families. If you would like to know more or be part of LA Hands 4 Hope, please contact Sophia Brennan (305-713-0101) or Charlie Stotler (314-308-9630).
