LAKE ASHTON FRIENDS OF MEALS ON WHEELS By Marcia Santino Happy New Year, Lake Ashton Residents! As we begin 2025 with hope and anticipation please remember that Meals on Wheels of Polk County assists our greater community throughout the year. No one knows when he might find himself in a position of need; long term or just for a short duration of recovery. MOWPolk does not discriminate, they are here for anyone in need. A sincere thank you to everyone that supports this essential resource. Your generosity is greatly and gratefully appreciated! Without federal funding MOWPolk is always in need of volunteer assistance. Please consider volunteering in the kitchen, thrift store or as a meal delivery person. As little as 3 hours a month can make a difference in so many lives. Reminder: Next “Third Thursday Second Chance” donation date is: January 16. LA WOODWORKERS CLUB By Jim Sullivan We are welcoming new members! Are you passionate about woodworking or looking to learn new skills? The Lake Ashton Woodworkers Club invites you to join our community! Whether you’re a seasoned craftsman or just starting, we welcome all skill levels. Come and discover a place to create, collaborate, and grow. Ladies and gentlemen; join us at our next meeting January 20 at 10:30 am in the Ballroom, to learn more about membership, upcoming projects, and the tools available in our state-of-the-art shop. See the classes we will be offering this year. Also, this is a reminder for existing members - it’s time to renew your membership for 2025! Let’s make another year full of creativity, and craftsmanship. Stop by the Clubhouse to sign up and ensure you’re part of all the exciting activities we have planned for the upcoming year. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow woodworking enthusiasts. See you there! Also, thanks to everyone who made the Wood Shop Craft Fair and Bake Sale Fundraiser in 39 November a success — especially all the bakers who donated baked goods to make the bake sale a success! We also thank all the staff members and the Woosdhop members for their great help. DUPLICATE BRIDGE By Don Fuller & Liz Leigh Duplicate bridge is played on Monday at 12:45 pm in the Clubhouse Card Room. The game is open to all residents regardless of skill level. Participants should have some experience playing bridge plus a partner is required. We have approximately 60 players in the group and can assist new players in finding a partner. Advance registration is encouraged by using the Red Book in the Clubhouse Card Room, or contacting Don Fuller at dfuller627@yahoo.com to register or receive more information.
