LACDD NEWS By Christine Wells, LA (LW) CDD Community Director Welcome to 2024! This is the perfect time to leave things in the past and take on new challenges to continue a path of selfimprovement. Mix it up in 2024 and try sitting at a new table at Monday Coffee or at one of the many social gatherings and events. The Community Social Potlucks are a great way to meet new people. Many new residents moved to Lake Ashton in 2023, so reach out to new faces and welcome new neighbors. The LACDD Board of Supervisors and staff were busy in 2023 with many projects completed including: • Pressure washing the curbing and pavers on Lake Ashton Blvd • Several pavement and curbing repairs throughout the community • Replacement of AED units • Refurbishment of the Card Room, Media Center, Bowling Alley, and Pool/Spa area • Replacement of the Restaurant Patio Awning • Installation of a handicap door opener at the Clubhouse east entrance • Installation of new gate arms and operators at the Thompson Nursery Road Entrance • Replaced the panic bar system at both sets of Lobby doors • Pressure washing and sealing of the bridges • Two new treadmills were purchased • Refurbishment of landscaping on Lake Ashton Blvd, the west parking lot, east pool entrance, and voting entrance • Lake Ashton shoreline stabilization behind the Clubhouse and pathway repairs • Bocce Ball Courts were refurbished Other smaller projects include replacement of water fountains, conversion of Shuffleboard lighting, painting, pressure washing, replacement of gutters and downspouts, and more. In addition we would like to thank all the Activities Desk, Media Center, and Bowling Alley volunteers, Garden Club facilitator, and everyone else who helped with these projects. They all embraced change with grace and an open mind and we are grateful for their dedication to Lake Ashton. We wish everyone a very Happy New Year full of health, happiness, and peace! 9
