Looking forward to having many new friendly Bocce players. Happy New Year from the Lake Ashton Pickleball Association! A great year of pickleball wrapped up November 30 with an annual potluck dinner and Board elections. In 2023 we added 43 new members brining our total membership to 175. We would love to add even more in 2024. It was a fun filled year with lots of open play and several special events including Pickleball Mixers to celebrate Tax Day, the 4th of July and Halloween, as well as a Memorial Day Social. Several “Newbie Clinics” led were held by Coach Dennis Santino. These clinics are a great way to learn the game or just check it out to see if you are interested in playing. We even have paddles for you to use if you don’t have one. There will be more clinics coming in 2024 so if you are interested, watch for the email blasts and sign up. New Board members are: · Chuck Caesar – President · Mark McDuff – Vice President · Lisa Savala – Treasurer · Earl Schley – Secretary · Lary Fabian – At Large Director FRIENDLY BOCCE GROUP By Stephanie Iszak The Friendly Bocce Group would like to invite all Lake Ashton residents to come out Mondays and Fridays from 10 am to 1 pm to play some fun games of Bocce Ball. No experience is required. Anyone playing would be more than happy to teach you and go over the the rules and regulations. The group also has the Bocce courts reserved for the 1st and 3rd Fridays for the 2024 season from 4 to 6 pm for tailgate parties. Bring your drinks and an appetizer to share. LA SWIM CLUB By Sandy White The LA Swim Club wishes everyone a Happy and Healthy new year. We also want to extend a special thank you to the HFC staff for their support during the year, and to the LA Garden Club for maintaining the great looking plants in the pool area. The swim club is a group of fitness swimmers who enjoy working out together. Some even go as an LA team to senior age group swim meets and are looking forward to the annual Polk County games in March. We always welcome new members. Contact sandyw1994@aol.com for more info.
