CLUBS LA BLACK HERITAGE CLUB By Pamela June We celebrate Black History Month to honor the significant contributions and achievements of African Americans, and to recognize and reflect on the sacrifices, struggles and triumphs of African Americans in American History. African American history has historically and intentionally been denied, buried and subjugated. Primarily in the South, there was a concerted effort to suppress Black History, particularly the history of slavery, Jim Crow laws, and reconstruction. School curriculum either mentioned nothing or distorted the facts. This month is an opportunity to educate others, to recognize the rich heritage and vast diversity of African American culture and to celebrate the contributions of African Americans across the vast spectrums of American society. It recognizes that African American History is American History. Black History month serves to uplift African American history and to ensure our stories and legacies are not erased and not forgotten. #BlackHistory365 CAMERA CLUB By Larry Hillock The February Camera Club meeting has been canceled.
