LALGA By Beverly Hines LALGA members “Let the Sunshine In” with their brightest golf attire (pictured below) at their summer tournament on July 8 & 9. Thirty-two members played in a pick your partner format. Two 2-player teams were combined to create a 4player team for a “Step-a-Side” scramble the first day and a regular 4-player scramble the second day followed by a delicious picnic style BBQ lunch at the Eagles Nest. Both day’s scores were combined for low net payouts in flights. Results were: Blue/Blue Flight 1st place – Monnie Guinn, Lynne Abbott, T Utting, Alina Lindstrom; 2nd place – Bev Hines, Deb Nettleton, Pam Pagel, Shearly Simpson; 3rd place – Sandra Lancaster, Margie Dersham, Kim Kutsch, Kathy Reed. Blue/ Combo Flight 1st place – Janis Vanquenza, Sue Buss, Cheryl Coveleski, Dori Krogman. Combo Flight 1st place – Nancy Testa, Bonnie Simonetta, Judy Mulhearn, Mary Donaldson. Closest to the pin: Day 1 & Day 2 – Lydia Fichtman and Monnie Guinn. Congratulations! August promises to be a fun month with the following league events: Aug 6 – Team Play – ABCD Randomly Paired, take one net on the Par 5s, two nets on the Par 4s, and 3 nets on the Par 3s with payout for low team net; Aug 13 – Team Play – ABCD 4-Player Scramble with payout for low gross and low net; Aug 20 – Stableford Team Net Points (Eagles 6 pts, Birdie 4 pts, Par 2 pts, Bogey 1 pt, Double Bogey 0, Triple bogey or higher -1 pt); and Aug 27 – Team Play – ABCD – Randomly Paired, one net on odd holes, and two net on even holes with payout for low team net. The Red Hoagland Challenge began a new year in June. An updated list of those currently winning the most prize money is posted on the bulletin board in the Pro Shop. Currently in 1st place is Shearly Simpson, 2nd place – Sandra Lancaster, 3rd place – Pam Pagel, and 4th place – Margie Dersham. There are lots of games left for the year with potential for members winning payouts so be sure to check the bulletin board for updates. 38
